Kirk Douglas passed away at the age of 103 today. What a great humanitarian, war veteran, movie producer and or course, an iconic actor. Kirk starred in over 90 movies over a sixty year career. He was one of the last surviving actors from Hollywood's Golden Years... Question for Today- What is your favorite Kirk Douglas Movie?

@ScotMac I like him in 2 Westerns which were really good. Maybe you remember them, Gunfight at the O.K. Corral and Man From Snowy River.

That distinctive dimple in his chin is what endeared him to many people! Great actor, great man. He will be missed

In Harms Way with John Wayne. I also like The Vikings with Tony Curtis.

@dgobucks226 Okay, I need to watch that movie again. I only remembered I liked it. I remember the sword fight between Kurt and Tony.

Yes, I remember The Vikings well. Ernest Borgnine met a terrible end in that movie being thrown into a pit with wolves. And the scene where the falcon takes out Kurt's eye was shocking.

@just4him Yes I agree. Very entertaining. I kind of felt bad for Kirk in that one since Tony got the girl.

He was certainly a great actor but I don't really remember many of his films.

He was just a little bit before my time, so as I am CERTAIN I have seen many a Kirk Douglas movie in my time, and I am sure I have, not a single title comes to mind. Not one.

I understand. Making so many movies they can sort of blend together. And his most active years were the 50's, 60's and 70's which is quite a long time ago.

Yes, a very good one for sure. Another good one he made with Burt Lancaster was called "Tough Guys." Two ageing train robbers cannot get used to modern life after thirty years in jail and decide to do one last robbery - on the same train that proved to be their downfall three decades earlier. Very funny comedy! Kirk was 70 years young when he made that movie...

No particular favorite but will highlight "Champion" (1949) which was his first Oscar nomination. He plays a champion boxer who is ruthless and callous in doing whatever to be on top.

I saw that... it's sad, but … what a grand old age to live to. I might have seen "Runs in the Family" - but wasn't impressed with it. I want to see "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" though

Tough Guys a gangster comedy where he teams up with Burt Lancaster is a really good one. It came out in 1986.
