The photo is from Durbar Square in Kathmandu, Nepal. There was a lot of damage here from the earthquake and a lot of restoration work is going on. One big building is being restored with funds from China.
We went through an area where dozens of pieces of masonry are being stored waiting to be replaced in their original positions. Each one has a tag which no doubt gives its position in the grand scheme of things. The bottom right photo is of one of the many buildings in the square.

This was terrible, Judy! I'm so sorry to hear about this destructive earthquake, in Kathmandu, Nepal
Were there many people, who lost their lives or were injured?

I'm glad you asked because when I went looking I was amazed at how many lost their lives. I hadn't realised there were so many. You might enjoy the Wikipedia entry which is where I got these statistics. It killed nearly 9,000 people and injured nearly 22,000.
The earthquake also triggered an avalanche on Mount Everest, and 21 were killed there.

It occurred in 2015 and nearly 9,000 people were killed. Many of the buildings were destroyed or damaged including many ancient ones.

An earthquake is one of the scariest natural disasters on this planet for anyone who goes through one.

I'm glad that they are working on putting as much of it back together as possible. I can't even imagine the work all of that will take!

I should think it would take years. And how they'll get the salvaged bits back in the right places.....
