Diary Thursday 13th February 2020 I took part in a lovely local poetry reading at the library today, with poets invited to read verse relating to Valentine’s day which is tomorrow. Only a few of us read our own poems. Others read their favorites from anthologies and collections, including work by Elizabeth Barret Browning and Carol Anne Duffy, which was nice. I have decided that as Preston currently has no active public science fiction society I should start my own. With some interest from messages I posted on social media I went on a short pub crawl to find a suitable venue settling on a pub called The Northern Way as it was warm, had no loud music blaring, is close to the bus stops and has a good choice of inexpensive beers on offer too. Diary Friday 14th February 2020 –Valentine’ Day No cards from secret admirers. I did get a card in a pink envelope that made me think I had a Valentine but it was a belated birthday card, still lovely though. Diary Saturday 15th February 2020 Just a week after we were ravaged by one storm we were again pummelled by high winds and heavy rain, with severe flooding in many areas but fortunately not my home city. I stayed in though. Diary Sunday 16th To 18th February 2020 Storm Dennis was still raging so again I stayed in hibernation. Diary Monday 17th February 2020 A visit to my doctors for my bi-annual blood tests to check I’m not diabetic. I have to wait a week for the results. I hate needles though his time it was quite painless. Diary Tuesday 18th February 2020 My Asus transformer pad computer finally died today. It has been very slow to charge up for a while and now ignores the power leads completely. It is an obsolete model that I have used for about fifteen years. I just have my main desk top for now though I’m promised a free Tablet devise from a course I’m on in a few weeks. Arthur Chappell

@LadyDuck That is bad - I remember my mum had teeth extracted and it giving her a black eye - she had to keep assuring everyone my dad was not being violent with her

@arthurchappell I am glad you had no bruises. At the beginning of January I had a wisdom tooth removed. The dentist said it was an easy thing that would have taken 5 minutes. It took 20 minutes, I got an infection and all my face was bruised, I did not go out during 8 days because I was ashamed to show my face.

I hope all the storms have gone by now. It will be good if you are given a free tablet.

Starting your own society sounds like a good plan. The weather in Europe and around the world has been crazy. Global warming? Hope your blood test comes back OK. Sorry about your Asus. Hope you get another one as you mentioned! Thanks for the update.

At least, you live a varied and interesting life to fill up diary entries, and make good reading here for others to read.

@innertalks Thanks - saves me jazzing it up with made up tales of saving children from the fire at the orphanage and foiling a bank heist on my own lol

@arthurchappell Yes, that's what I like to do though. I make up a short story, which is usually based around one of my own experiences, which I jazz up, as my own life hasn't quite got enough pizzazz to it.
