I Was In Pest Control

I still have all of my traps. This little guy was making his way through an opening and getting into our house. I HAD to trap him. But I did release him. In all of my years in pest control I only killed skunks. But all of the racoons, opossums, and squirrels were all released. I set this trap and the wifey found this guy trapped and fed him a hot dog. lol. I love this woman, her compassion, even though the raccoon did not seem quite onboard with the situation. t=28

@porwest Your wife sounds like a real animal lover and they are lucky to have her in their corner.

She indeed does love animals. Sometimes I laugh at the fact that she can watch all of these murder shows and documentaries...but when one of those abandoned pets commercials comes on she changes the channel. lol

@porwest I can understand that. I hate to watch animals being hurt or abused. My cat I have now was left to die at 2 days old and it makes me angry. I found a cute little kitten one Saturday when I started on my walk and had to give it food and water. It was tiny and possibly abandoned. I was so angry. I could not take it in though. I understand what you wife feels. I feel the same way.

@Hannihar Many people do as well. I am secretly a bit of an animal lover as well.

I wondered why you killed the skunks? I'm happy to hear you released the raccoons, opossums, and squirrels. My husband and I feel the same way as you and you wife do.

There simply was no practical way to release the skunks without potentially getting sprayed. My preferred method was drowning. THAT being said, I did not prefer my preferred method. But it had to be done.

I am glad he was released too although rats are the worst for me and mice come second on the list.

Couldn't view the video. What an outrageous picture! I'm glad you trap and release. We had to get rid of 2 raccoons that were on the roof all the time. We were afraid they would get into the house. I hope they are happy in their new digs. Skunks eat all kinds of unwanted things in the yard. They do cause problems for dogs though.

It costs a lot of money to have them trapped and very often I failed to trap them.

You killed skunks? We never had issues with needing to kill skunks. We had a raccoon in our garage once but my dad got that feisty raccoon out. My dad had set traps for rats (outside). Inside very rarely like I don’t recall in the last decade needing a rat/mouse trap. At my place we have gopher / mole problems. I’m deciding to go with fake grass in the backyard. No gopher or mole problems for our front lawn though ..:

Such a lovely wife you have to feed the poor raccoon. I hope he doesn't return for more hotdogs.

I am glad that you releases them in their places. But sad to know about skunks. I wish there was a way to release them back.

We don't have that kind of animal. We do get rid of mice and rats.

You found a racoon holding a kitten and walking upright? What a shame that you drowned skunks. I would have just let them live in the area. They don't come out during the day to bother people.
