I'm a wedding photographer!

Lots of people take photographs but some people go into it more deeply than others. I would describe myself as a 'keen amateur' and I love taking photographs especially of my native country. Last summer I was asked by friends who were getting married if I would shoot their wedding. I was a bit nervous about shooting someone's wedding - what if none of the images turned out and our friends had no record of their wedding? I would feel awful and it's not like I could ask them to repeat the wedding day! Fortunately, all went well on the day and our friends were delighted with the photographs which we placed on a digital photoframe as part of their wedding gift. I actually really enjoyed the day but I'm not sure I'd do it again!

Vince took wedding photos as a sideline when we were first married. He has only done it since as a favour. Good for you. I'm glad it went well because, as you say, it's quite a responsibility.

@ScotMac Nowadays it can take all day what with virtually watching the bride getting dressed and all that goes with it. Some things aren't worth the effort - not if it's just a hobby.

@JudyEv For me it is just a hobby although I did enjoy the day. Mind you, considering what wedding photographers charge these days perhaps I should take it up full time

I know how feel having to take a picture of a wedding couple since you and I would have to face the fear factor of taking pictures.

That's also true about getting pictures of bees on flowers or pets doing that cute thing they do. It's all about luck and timing, if you're not ready when that rainbow appears or the hummingbird is feeding then you're simply out of luck.

I have heard that professional wildlife photographers can spend weeks waiting for the perfect shot or a video clip which may only last a few seconds. Not sure I have that kind of patience!

I did when I was younger but anymore I just shoot at the pup when she's playing with the neighbor pups and if I get a good shot than good for me, if not I don't worry about it @ScotMac It's an age thing I think.

I can very well understand why you were nervous, what if the photos were not good. Wedding photos are good memories... most of the time.

That's nice that you have done that to the wedding of your friend. I am sure the couple trust your talent in photography that was why they asked you to do it on their special day.
