Sometimes I feel guilty ...

I hear myself complaining about the weather, the traffic and everything else that I find annoying in life and then I start to feel guilty because I have a roof over my head, food on the table and good health. There are people who don't have any of those privileges. I think complaining about little annoyances in our life is just a human condition and I know that if anything more serious happened it would all fade into non existence. I need to give myself a good hard kick up the backside and focus on the good things I have rather than the negative. Have a good day everyone!

It is just human to have a whinge occasionally. I wouldn't kick myself too hard.

I cannot help but complain about bad stuff, but I learned not to dwell on them. A few years ago, I was not like that, there were things that annoyed me for months. But I guess that having a grateful mindset is better than a negative one.

Definitely. It's hard not to moan about things sometimes. I think we all do it.

I also feel the same way. But then, I just think it over and be glad that I'm luckier than the other people.

I always tend to focus on the positive, yet I still find myself complaining about the little things. But one of the ways I help correct that is by reminding myself that there are millions of people on this planet who have way less than I do, are suffering tremendously living in poverty without clean water and adequate food, and yet they wake up every day happy to be alive. I have to remind myself that despite my complaints I should be thankful and grateful for everything God has provided me in my life.

I guess, but we have become greedy and selfish over time and I think the more we have the more we want. It breaks my heart to see some of those children in third world countries living in war zones .. but I still find time to complain about things that aren't right in my life. I guess I don't care enough.

@moffittjc I donate to a few charities but there is no way I could give to all deserving causes. I just give to those closest to my heart.

Sometimes I have to say to myself, "Do you want the kids to sound like you?" If the answer is no, I need to quit complaining.

I am beyond complaining about the weather and the traffic, etc. A few Sundays ago I was in a car accident and I'm thanking God I was able to walk away. My car didn't make it though.

As you say, it is just a human condition. When you have a problem, that is YOUR problem and you really do not think if others have a bigger problem than yours. ... Only edited, I found a typo.

It's human nature to grumble about things, especially things we have no control over {like weather and traffic}. Even people, without a roof over their head, or food on the table, would grumble about the weather. I always think grumbling is good. But I'm a natural grumble-r!

@sprite1950 I really do understand what you are saying but I also feel a bit different about this subject too sometimes. I know a lot of us are so very lucky but I also believe it's ok to have a whinge here and there. We are human and sometimes certain things can affect us more than others. If we don't have those times where we vent about things, even little things, it can build up and make us explode. Which I think is worse. It's ok! I understand what you are saying and you're so sweet to say that but I also believe you're entitled to complain about things that are getting to you!

You're right when you say I would probably explode if I didn't complain now and then. We all have times when everything seems wrong. A little whinging seems to help.

It is just human so don't be hard on yourself. Just try to remember to be positive and thankful for the things you do have. We all have those days where we complain about everything. Try to get in the habit of thinking about the good things you have in life each morning. As soon as you get out of bed in the morning try to run down the list of the very simplest things you have that you are happy to have.

@Bensen32 Yes that's how I feel but I'm lucky I don't get depressed so I have a little grumble and then carry on.
