Too creative to eat

The collage shows some of the novel decorations that were on show at the Hindu wedding that we attended in Kathmandu, Nepal, recently. We saw the same sort of creativity in Thailand many years ago. We don’t see it much in Australia. Have you seen decorative carving of fruits and vegetables in your restaurants or eating places?

I have never seen anything like this for myself, but I have seen it in pictures online.

They're very clever at this, aren't they? I wonder if it takes a lot of practice.

@rebelann I think I had a go at making rosettes from radishes once but that's about it.

I have seen those carvings, my cousin (the one who is Chef) spent 1 month in Thailand to learn their carving techniques. I should have followed his steps and become a Chef too.

@LadyDuck I didn't know there were special carving tools but I guess there would have to be.

@JudyEv That's great! I'm sure if I went to a fancy restaurant I might see something like that, but I never have.

At some places I've been to around here, I've seen carrots and radishes made into various decorative items.

I saw some watermelons that looked like animals at a show that I went to once. That was really neat.

@judyev Carrots carved into flowers, yes, but I always think of how much I’m being charged for it so can’t relax to enjoy it.

Some salad vegies they play around with, don't they? I have a lot of trouble in a really flash restaurant (not that I've been in many) about paying through the nose for a bowl of soup. That stops my enjoyment too.
