My ship has come in. And it's loaded with goodies. Look at my stash!!! I went into Lowe's today and they had a bunch of cleaning supplies sitting at the front door with a "limit 10 per customer" sign. I've already got the things I need: hand sanitizer, disinfecting wipes, and MASKS!!!! So who needs that piddly $800 social security check? Serious inquiries only, please. ----------- But seriously.... I remember all the flu scares, going back to the Swine flu in 1976. There was no swine flu outbreak that year; however, the vaccination killed a few people. I remember SARS. And the bird flu (Avian flu). And mad cow disease. And the zika virus. And West Nile. Oh, and Naegleria fowleri, which has a 98% mortality rate (as opposed to Coronavirus, which has a 3.4% mortality rate according to the World Health Organization). So no, I'm not pushing the panic button. The things pictured above? I've had them in the house for months. The masks are from the VA, so I can dust. Hand sanitizer and sanitizing wipes are things I always have around the house. But if you want to barter a trade, I'm interested in a new car......

The panic is causing them to run out. I tried to but hand sanitizer online and at 3 different stores and literally everywhere was sold out. Hmph

I saw someone post an outrageous price for toilet paper, too. It's like a hurricane watch: everyone runs out and buys bottled water, when all they have to do is buy a couple of those five-gallon water containers and fill it up. That way, nobody's running out (or making an outrageous profit).

Wait - do you have toilet paper? I'm seeing all the posts on FB from friends and family in CA and some in Canada . . . their photos of stores with empty shelves . . . none of the above to be found ! I happen to be stocked, luckily, but we are normally stocked anyway.

I remember all those scares, too. Washing our hands for 20 seconds and not touching your eyes, nose, and mouth is what everyone should do and all the time. I’ll trade you my husband’s jock strap for one mask. It will definitely be good for dusting.

Hope you stay healthy. They say washing your hands is the best defense. I was sick with the flu during the pandemic in the 1960s; and I was very ill for 2 weeks. Fortunately I was young and strong. I don't ever want to go through that again! We are all stocked up on food an TP. Better to be prepared.

Sounds like ya got it made. Hey, $800 is better than nothin have you checked with your state officials to see if you can quality for medicaid? I did that and now they pay my medicare premium, that's all I really wanted help with cuz I don't go to doctors.

Whatever the stats, it's still killing a lot of people. I agree the panic buying is ridiculous but it's good you now have your own stash.

Mad cow disease (Jacob van-Crelzred disease) wasn't a "thing" in the US. West Nile is always here. Bird Flu was never a thing here nor was SARS as far as I recall.
