Hubby's birthday was March 9th. To celebrate, tomorrow I am taking hubby to see the matinee showing of the Jagged Little Pill musical on Broadway and then to a Mediterranean tapas place for dinner. He knows about the musical but doesn't know where we are going for dinner. I want that to be a surprise.
I've never been to the restaurant I booked but the menu sounds delicious, there is lots to choose from, and the prices are not that bad. The place is close to the theater we are going to, which is a plus.
Originally, I wanted to make a reservation at a Greek restaurant. They have a pre-fixe menu of $49/person. It includes one appetizer, a main course and a dessert. Drinks and tax/tip not included. After I added on an estimate for alcoholic drinks and coffee and calculated the tax/tip I realized that the bill would be closer to $180, if not more. I don't want to spend that much. I thought of maybe just ordering a la carte but the prices are high. All the main courses are over $40 each. That alone would have been over $80. Add on some appetizers, drinks, coffee and dessert and I'd be paying over $200 for sure. I cannot afford that, so this place is out.

Our dinner came out to $120. Add on tax and tip it turned out to be $154 and change. It ain't cheap but not that bad. And that's because hubby only ordered one drink. Drinks were pricey. My glass of pinot noir (from Oregon, not France), which seemed like it was less than half filled was $17. And his drink was somewhere in that range as well. We had five tapas and one dessert. No coffee or tea as we were full. Couldn't even finish the dessert. Could've done without the fifth tapas dish but I really wanted to try the cauliflower. Everything was delicious. I'd definitely go back there.

@LindaOHio For now it's shut down until April 12th but who knows what's gonna happen after that. Number of cases in NYC keep on increasing.

@lovebuglena I'm glad you had a good dinner and got to see the show. It will be a while before the lights come back on Broadway!
