So we all have heard about closings and cancellations due to the Coronavirus. I decided to do a little research about my area here in Wisconsin. I searched mostly due to the fact that I am searching for a job right now and at first I was getting calls, had a few interviews and then nothing since.
So this is somethings I found out. I did get a call from one company to let me know that they are holding off hiring right now but would get back to me. I got an email from another that they are doing the same thing.
Wisconsin is closing all schools K-12 grade by 18 March. They will be closed until 06 April as of now but will update as time goes by. All St. Patrick's Day parades are canceled throughout the state for this weekend.
The event cancellations are to many for me to list here but I can tell you it is a lot of them. Businesses are encourage to take precautions at this time and consider the need to close or limit their need for employees to come into work places over the next few weeks.
In light of all of this it is a bit worrisome. Those that live paycheck to paycheck or those like me who are looking for work right now this is not good news. So many questions about it and no real answers. How long will this go on? How is it that some of these people will make ends meet if they are not getting paid for this time off? I assume bills will still need to be paid.
I have to say as much as I don't want to worry about all this I can certainly see how people are starting to worry and with no answers to many questions people are going to start to panic. That is why we see people panic buying already.
Keep yourselves safe and take care of those around you. Don't fall into panic mode as best you can. Panic is going to cloud your judgement and is not going to do anything positive for you.

That is the one thing that is the saddest about this, to me. That the virus itself is NOT the issue. It's not even that deadly. People just get sick, and that's it. Mostly. But in the meantime the real suffering is not from getting sick, and not even the possibility of dying from it. The real suffering is from the REACTION to what practically amounts to a lot to do about nothing.

There are two cases in my county. Our schools are still open, but there are no after school activities.
The power company has said they won't be shutting off anybody's electricity, same with the water company. I'm sure that other municipalities will do the same.

@Bensen32 our Governor just cancelled schools for two weeks for the whole state.
I think ours are up to 15 cases, might be more now.

@ScribbledAdNauseum yep I think most states are going to do this, maybe it is just a matter of time.

I know the feeling since I lost mine on Feb 28th and now it seems like no one is hiring right now. So I keep sending out resumes and thankfully will be getting unemployment, of course that is like nothing compared to what I was getting paid from the job.
