Oh, the suspense

Our school district is on Spring Break this week. Other districts were last week, some were scheduled for next week. The State School Board, along with the state health department, have now declared that all schools should be closed for this week. So, no changes for us, at this time. However they did make it known that this is subject to change and may be extended. I believe it will be. The suspense is not killing me, but I would like to know. Any changes for your work routine?

Hubby's medical adventures have put us in a position of having to work. I maxed out credit cards paying for what insurance does not cover. Just the last two weeks he has had four trips to the ER.

Our kids are on March Break this week, but the province announced last week that the schools will remain closed for 2 weeks following the break week. The teachers will qualify for EI, as any worker who is out of work because of self isolating or closure. That means that they will only get 55% of their wages.

Teachers here have prorated pay, so I am sure they will get their pay. People like me, we will not get paid unless we trade in some sick days.

Our schools closed indefinitely so who knows when they will be back in session. Some closed til April 13th. But yet we adults still have to go to work unless we are told otherwise. I haven't gotten any phone calls yet about my job so I'm still to report to work. Hoping they start letting me work from home.

My job cannot be done from home. I still have some time off I can claim if we shut down longer.

Kids are home from school until April 4th due to the virus and they are asked to stay home. I hope they respect.

My grand kids, except the very oldest are all home schooled. However the four from Minnesota are going to visit here, because they need to be out of their house so their dad can refinish the floors.

@GardenGerty They have asked to all people over 65 not to enter in contact with kids here, not even their grandkids. I received the letter from the Federal Doctor today, no problems, I have no grandkids.

So your area is closed from now until Spring Break? Do you suppose they will make them attend school then since they are on break now?

@GardenGerty no it's just closed for now, three weeks. But then they would only have one week of school before they would have their week vacation. They shouldnt be making it up and losing the vacation. As this isn't a "vacation" right now.

I have conference calls in us! Maximum technology is used. They allow reality so far, but if you pay for the internet ....

I can imagine it may cost some companies more in internet fees. However it is important to be safe.

Well, you know I don't have a job. I wish I knew how long this mess is going to last though (I'm sure everyone does). My dad still had church yesterday, although people were being smart about handshakes and hugs. Several of the elderly stayed home, of course. My dad has checked on them, and brought them things they needed.

Our church had services this week but have already cancelled for next Sunday. Pastor will live stream the message, but I will miss the fellowship.

With the medical expenses my husband has had the last few years I am likely to work until I die. I think closing the schools is a good idea. Healthy people might never know they were sick if they catch this, but they can give it to others easily.

Thank goodness I don’t work. My boys are both working from home and the grandkids are either on vacation or taking online classes.

It's the not knowing these things that is annoying I think. No changes here for us really as we aren't affected by jobs.

@GardenGerty For sure and thankfully we don't live pension to pension either. Our Aussie dollar is very weak at the moment. Our dollar is worth about US60c.
