Friday evening my brother and his wife came for cocktails and dinner. They washed their hands the second they arrived and we did not hug or kiss hello or goodbye. Saturday afternoon, they called to say goodbye. My brother was concerned about his car being transported home on Monday and his flight home on Tuesday. So they hopped into their car, paid cash for gas and takeout, and drove 1400 miles in 23 hours and arrived home safely this afternoon. My brother’s hunch paid off. Jet Blue Airlines notified him once he arrived home that all flights are now canceled. What a hunch! But I miss them.

I have thought about doing the same thing but right now we really are safer here. I am glad that they got home safely.

@DianneN The hotels is why we decided to stay, they are barely clean enough against the normal things, this is way beyond anything they can handle. I am sure they are glad to be home as well. I want to see my dogs and grandkids but I would rather be safe. I am talking to multiple friends every day,

@BelleStarr I agree. I’m sure everyone wants you safe, too. Thank goodness for technology and phones. So glad they didn’t shut down, too.

They had plans to have their car shipped home on Friday, so had it packed. However, the transport company never returned their calls, so they booked with another company for Monday. I was so surprised that they went so suddenly and drove straight home without sleeping. He doesn’t trust hotels to be sterilized. He also paid cash and told everyone to keep the change. We are taking this very seriously. I’m just so happy they are home safe and sound now.

I was thinking before I read the whole article that they might want to drive home in case the planes stop flying. They made good time and with the gas prices falling saved money and came out better than shipping the car and flying

It worked out so well for them! They called around 10:00 pm from the car last night. I thought they would pull into a hotel, but they fooled me. The roads were empty, so they really tooled it! Now they are exhausted.

@DianneN Right now, police officers have way more important things on their hands than trying to stop speeders. Most police officers have been reassigned to enforcing lockdowns and closures and curfews. In fact, over the past week, I can't even remember seeing one officer out on the roads patrolling.

It turned out to be a stroke of luck. I’m just so happy he made it home safely. He did speed, but barely any cars were on the roads and if he got stopped by the police, he would have coughed his head off while lowering the windows.

I’m so relieved they arrived safely. No, they aren’t in quarantine. He left early only because he had a bad feeling about his car not being transported and the airline canceling his flight. He was right about both.

@kobesbuddy That’s exactly what my brother did, except for the fast food. They don’t eat it, but they ordered ahead and went through pick up restaurants and ate in the car. He only paid cash and let everyone keep the change, so he wouldn’t have to touch much. Then they sanitized their hands and wiped down everything with wipes.
