April Fools Day and What's Happening Here

Hello everyone. I'm fixing to go tackle cleaning up the kitchen but wanted to throw a post up first since I haven't been online much today at all.
Why not? Well our Governor of Mississippi announced that we will go under lockdown on Friday, April 3, 2020. That doesn't change much for my family since we have been practicing it since Louisiana started several weeks ago.
I did decide to make a grocery store run and I'm glad I did. The store I went to is where I usually buy meat. In looking at groceries on the way to the meat department I was horrified at how bad the prices were inflated. Needless to say I didn't buy a lot there. I'll go to Kroger next week.
I passed the gas station that we use on the way. My hubby had said they had closed down yesterday and indeed it looked closed and gas tanks were not operating. Pumps were covered.
Things are not looking good and I hope and pray you are all staying home to protect yourself from this virus. If you don't do it, nobody else can do this for you! It is up to YOU!
Stay safe and practice social distancing if and when you do have to go out.

I need eggs. And gas here is $1.57 per gallon.
I`m not in lock down but I do stay home more or out of the crowds. I go walk but its open and the people stay away from each other.

A friend told me that eggs at the Piggly Wiggly had gone up and milk too.

I would report the store for the prices. They are going after them for that.

@wolfgirl569 That is my last trip there. Kroger is a little out of the way but who cares?

@kareng Possibly a little bit of both. I would not shop them if the have the prices jacked up.

We won't be seeing any grocery sales in the near future.

@JohnRoberts Very true. And some you will make unintentionally; items out of stock so you have to substitute this for that. Or do without totally. I think a lot of people will learn that they can survive even with the cutting back.

@kareng This cannot go on indefinitely and sacrifices will have to be made for the greater good.

Oh goodness, gas stations are very much an essential thing, that is crazy to have it be shut down. My mom was able to go to the store today and pick up many things we needed. Thankfully we are not on lockdown, just have stay-at-home orders which no one is really paying attention to.

@kareng Entitled idiots. The people that think "Oh it won't happen to me" because they are so deprived of reality.

I am going to make a grocery store/pick up prescription run in about twenty minutes/half an hour. We're on "lock down" too, but still allowed to do things like shop and walk our dogs.

I haven't had to fill up my truck with gas in three weeks now! Usually I get gas once a week. But since the lockdown, I just haven't been driving anywhere.
I did my normal grocery shopping a week ago, got lucky and happened to drive by the store when there were no people in line outside waiting to get in. Got most of what I needed, and I should be good for at least another week.

I think I saw that inflation at the register this morning. I was surprised by the total which seemed twice what it usually is. I hope it was just what I bought, which isn't the usual either.

I refuse to pay over-inflated prices. I have been reporting overcharges when I see them online. Stay safe and healthy!

It's the same here in our province, but I think it's much worse in the capital. We've got vegetables growing in our backyard and local produce is still available. I pray we won't have to run out of supplies in the next few weeks. Local government gives us additional food, which is great.
