Cleaning the paving

The photo shows ‘before’ and ‘after’ of portion of the paving under our clothes-line. The top photo is the 'before'.
I’m trying to catch up with a few chores around the house. Being retired, we should have plenty of time to do ‘stuff’ but some things we just put off for one reason or another. One time when we had a house-sitter of sorts, we came home to find a lot of black marks on the bricks at the back of the house. I think maybe she cut up kindling there for the wood fire.
There were several areas of these unsightly black marks. This afternoon, Vince got out the high pressure hose and lo and behold, the marks have come off quite well. Tomorrow he’ll tackle some under the verandah where we had a generator sitting and oil has stained the cement. I might start making a list of ‘Things We’ve Accomplished’ during the 2020 pandemic.
I hope you're making the most of these trying times. Stay safe.

I have been extremely busy around my house since this crisis started, busy doing nothing at all. And it seems to have consumed all my time. And the worst part, all that nothing I have been doing has left me very tired and worn out. I wish I had more time for a nap!

I'm doing the usual springtime chores here like pulling weeds, washing all the winter stuff so it can be put away and of course cooking a meal. There's very little to eat without cooking it and as for sardines, well they do taste better in soups then straight from the can .... of course the cats don't agree with me

I wonder why she did not clean them up and left them for you two to clean. I am glad they came off. I am cleaning and getting ready for our Jewish holiday that starts this Wednesday night. It is a lot of work to clean for it and then to clean after it is over.It lasts 7 days.

I'm glad you're getting some things done...we aren't. :-( Can't seem to get the hubs motivated.

@LindaOHio So are we but when things return to 'normal' (whatever that might be) our social events will start up again. So I'm treating this time as 'extra'.

@JudyEv We have got similar brick paving as you. One of the peole who came in the past to fix up our problem with ants, he said, 'the problem with ants is the paving. You have it here, so they are likely to make nests right underneath.
In our case, I keep seeing the sand pushed up in a sort of vocalno type, about 5-10-15 like that at the same time every now and then. A bit annoying. I kept spraying the ants which marched inside the house. (Some people advised me to pour boiling water. I haven't used that trick yet.)

The irresistible force of water. I have a similar job to do. The weather hasn't been decent enough yet to do outside jobs, but tomorrow looks promising - dammit. No more putting it off.

Off you go. Get to it. Think how good you'll feel once it's done.

It seems that the labor effect is very obvious. What if I don't want to do housework even if I have time? Am I too lazy?

It's done an amazing job. Vin said it would take the skin off your hand if you put your hand under the jet. I remember hearing about a machine that will cut anything with a jet of water. Apparently it works better than diamonds. I'll have to research it again.

My husband loves playing with his pressure washer too.
It gets all of the grime out of the cement.
Its one of those items that if someone (like your son) borrows it, you may have to buy yourself a new one as they never seem to remember to return it.
Your pavement looks great.

I might need to suggest he do the front steps next. They're looking pretty grotty.

We're pretty happy about it all really - considering how bad it is for some others. It would, of course, be better if it had never happened but we're trying to make the best of it.
