Filling other people's rubbish bins

We met our new neighbours this afternoon. They are renting the property next door and we’ve been meaning to get in touch with them but of course the social isolation rules put a stop to that. Today we walked 500 metres down our interior road to bring in the rubbish bin. We thought we’d put the neighbour’s bin inside his gate while we were there. He used to put it at another gateway further down the road. While Vince was putting the bin onto their property, he and his son suddenly appeared. So we said hello and had a chat. The neighbour on their far side has been putting surplus rubbish in their bin but without wrapping it. It has also contained some dangerous items so they moved the bins to our end. But what a rude, inconsiderate thing to use someone else’s bin without asking or least being considerate about wrapping the waste. The photo shows how we used to move our two bins some years ago.

What do you mean by wrapping waste?

He isn't putting the bits and pieces into bags so if you lift the lid, there are takeaway containers, banana peels, razor blades, etc all just dumped in pellmell.

@Nicolla He has solved it for the moment as he has moved his bins away from that gateway.

Yes, that is rude. It is probably good you don't live close to them.

Our neighbours seem nice people but it's the next ones along that are a worry. Luckily we're not near them.

@JudyEv Yes, I think so. The one down the hill from me is trouble..but luckily he isn't close to me. I wasn't real thrilled when he fancied he was a member of the "neighborhood watch" and went around taking pics of everyone's properties. I could tell you some stories about that guy.

@snowy22315 That sounds very dodgy. Has he got some light-fingered mates?

I don't have to worry about said problem but have to agree that was rather rude and inconsiderate. Especially considering that some of the waste was dangerous.

Our neighbour said he wouldn't mind if it was wrapped but they also filled it to overflowing then the rubbish blew all over the road.

@koopharper Exactly - which is why he shifted his bins near ours.

Yes I hope that the street cleaner is not going to think that you are the one whom do that.

@id_peace The contents of the bins get dumped into a truck mechanically so they're not likely to trace the rubbish back to a particular address. But it is possible.

I have shared bin space before, I told the neighbors on a spec day they were welcome to put their extra in ours, as long as it met the rules, they were moving out and had more trash than space

That setup would make a nice little homemade thrill ride! I could climb in one of the bins, and you or Vince could drive around the property at high rates of speed, zig-zagging around trying to get me to fly out of the bin!

Oh, what a shame you're not closer. How much fun would that be? To try to get you to fly out? We could even have a go at running over you! I don't think that's a really good idea, Jeff.

That is a bit rude, at least they could be nice enough to ask. I guess if it was some items they are not suppose to throw in the bin that is why they put it in the neighbors bin so they would not get caught.

@judyev Some folk just weren’t brought up properly! I’ve been tempted some times to put my rubbish in a neighbour’s bin when mine was full and his only half full on bin day. So far I’ve behaved myself.

We had something like that here recently. Someone put their trash in a neighbors bin without asking. It was mentioned to our HOA and a notice was sent out to at least ask before assuming the neighbor wouldn't' mind. Putting dangerous items in someones elses bin is even more rude and inconsiderate.

wow,.this is.the problem.when you have incosiderate neighbors. I.was thinking that since you live in an 18-acre property you would not have any problem.with neighbors, unlike here in ky commercial space, but nope i was wrong.
