I did not expect the money so early. Budgeting.

Today, as I was in the kitchen making a escalivada with the last eggplants so that I could make room for a chicken cooked in vinegar, mylot came with its present of last month´s money. The escalivada is in the oven, the aroma fills the house and I also ate a light lunch. I did not put away one of the thighs as O will eat it later, probably after my nap. I called Leticia and she is fine. But from today on, her part of the city is in quarantine. I told her to buy extra food and asked her if she needed money. But she said she was using her children´s money. They all work and they are in jobs that are important for the city (Jorge for instance drives a big garbage truck). Besides, they spend less food as Leticia knows what to do with leftovers and will not let anything go to waste. I am doing my best to spend as little as possible. Are you worried about saving now?

I'm worried that if this doesn't lift in the next few months I might have to start to dip into my savings and that is going to be a real bummer.

A little bit. My dad offered to send me a check, and I let him. I'm putting that in my savings account and not touching it until I have to. I have not yet gotten my tax refund money, and that will also help us to stretch the budget. If necessary, I will go back to work. I prefer to wait until the quarantine is over, but we'll see if that's something I'm able to keep doing.

@marguicha We're ok right now. In a month or two, it might be a lot harder.

Nothing has really changed for us spending wise. We got what we need and we don’t need to go out for a while.

@Tina30219 Leticia is feeling better with a diet, but as soon as this virus end she has to go to the hospital and have a doctor see her.

I’ve been saving a little money where and there not a lot. I’m not using our house money. We get a little cash each week and I get money in weekly from one of my apps so it helps get food on the table and thankfully my husband still has work so we just got to make a week in between pay checks.

@marguicha indeed. Some people more then others. My husband works 3 days a week in the hospital so he has a steady income but I have to becareful what we buy and what bills we do pay. Some places are relaxed on the bills because of a lot of people being out.

We're not really worried but our superannuation has taken a huge hit. We are hoping it will come back when this is all over. Maybe we've made our last trip overseas - but that's okay really.

I am more worried about my eldest daughter. She lost her job and I don´t know if her patients will want to go on being treated.

Yes, it was nice to see the dollar signs for sure. Always a nice surprise. I am usually like, "Okay, this thing is STILL legit." Not that I generally doubt it, but you know, past experiences with other sites always leave you wondering just a little when this party might end. As for saving, I do it pretty much as a habit. My wife and I have been lucky in all of this that we are still working and our income has not been impacted by this. I did take a massive hit in my stock portfolio, but it is all on paper and I never sold a single share of anything. It will come back. I AM spending less money though. Both by default and by choice. Just because.

One of my best friends lost a big amount of money he had for his old age lately. But he is still working so that if he waits, I am sure that he will have part of his money back.

I am always a bit nervous about saving. It's hard on one income. But for the moment, my husband is able to work, as he works for our postal service, which is considered essential. So, I'm counting our blessings.

With my pension I do not get to save very much at all to be honest and what spare I have I tend to give to my daughter if I can.

I am between a rock and a hard place right now. I was glad to get the money from myLot but there is a much bigger check I am expecting and it is just not coming. That could make me or break me at this moment.
