We went out for a coffee

We went out for a coffee this morning. Yep, despite the social isolation guidelines we left the house and had our coffee over at the workshop. The tray is sitting on part of a pine pallet. We have dismantled the boards from the pallet and hopefully some of them will become nifty little display boxes for some of Vince’s coins. He has some special coins which would look nice in a display case. He intends to sell them on eBay. We’ve had trouble sourcing tiny hinges and catches for the boxes. We have now ordered hinges but think we’ll have sliding lids which would eliminate the need for catches. So this is the ‘before’ photo of the timber we’ll be using. It’s good to have a project on the go again.

It's quite tricky as we're trying to put a sliding lid. Mostly I just supply encouragement - and coffee but sometimes I have a good idea as well.

There ya go, it looks almost like a picnic table. Someone I used to date his parent's had a picnic shelter on their property. That was really cool..it backed to a mountain, and was large enough to invite several neighbors, or family members over. It seemed like it was always perfect summer picnic weather there.

@JudyEv You like to socialize, maybe you could make a shelter, and when all this corona stuff is over with you could invite people over. It will give you a project, and something to look forward to! win, win.. You can tell Vince he's welcome for the extra tasks...

@DocAndersen Mostly mint rolls or special coins from the Royal Mint. This is one honouring Slim Dusty, arguably our most famous country and western singer.

It's nice to have coffee away from the house. We should have a picnic down in our patch of bush one day.

We're very lucky. We have plenty of places we can walk to - and then we have all the bush behind us too.

@judyev I have a jumbled collection of coins from here and there, mostly there, and mostly no longer legal tender. I never thought of selling them. We’re having very sunny weather now so it’s great getting into the garden to sit with a cup of tea - I haven’t been in a café since 13th March.

@JudyEv Oh I would never launder money! I do know a little old lady who does wash her money, even notes which she hangs up to dry then irons. Quite potty, but then you never know where money has been.

@xFiacre I had a $50 note go through the wash - in Vin's pocket of course. But silly me tried to iron the creases out and melted half of it. The mint eventually accepted it and sent us a new one.

Vince has some proof sets which would look nice in a display case. If you're thinking of putting any coins up for sale, don't try to clean them at all - but you probably know that.

We're having an unusually warm spell of weather at the moment so I'm doing as much as I can in the garden. The neighbours did draw the line at me showering out there though!!!

I love the coffee outing! My swimming group had an online video chat and coffee on Sunday morning. We usually go to a cafe for coffee after swimming at that time. It was so successful we're going to keep it going each Sunday for as long as we need to.
