I am becoming a vegetarian.

Not entirely by choice, but because I dread to eat all the meat I have in the freezer. Now that I´m all the time at home, I try to check that I eat some proteins every day. So the way to fill my tummy includes a lot more veggies than what I used to have. Today´s zucchini and carrot pudding was delicious. It has eggs and grated cheese as the source of proteins plus the diced onions that always turn a dish into something special. I also ate for lunch some cauliflower al dente with homemade mayo. I have some left and I can eat more tomorrow. I think that tomorrow I will take out some meat though. It could even be a small pork steak to go with the zucchini pudding leftover. I´m eating less now, maybe because Ido so little at home.

We are eating more vegetables and more beans, but the doctor is monitoring my husband who has become anemic again. Your food sounds good. I know you are trying to conserve. I also find I am mostly eating smaller portions.

I´m eating smaller portions because I am living a very sedentary life.

We are doing the same, some proteins and fruits and vegetables and yogurt, it's good to boost the immune system.

I hope so. I mix some of the food I normally eat. Today I will take out some ground meat and I´ll make a moussaka. I´ll freeze part of it.

Are you becoming one out of choice or necessity? One is for the most part a change in lifestyle, the other is the either the lack of resources, or so little that you need to hold on to it as long as possible. It doesn’t matter either way, I’m just wondering.

@marguicha It’s hard to imagine food running out completely, but it certainly is a concern. I have to stop eating so much, I’m starting to run out of most things. Not spaghetti though. We have accumulated a lot of it over a long period of time, way before this happened. I’m not sure how old some of it is.

@babytaffster I don´t usually accumulate anything with flour. I have a supermarket near home. Now it doesn´t serve any purpose.

I have more than enough. But I am worried because nobody knows how long this will last and if the food will be enough for everyone.

We are using more meat out of the freezer now that we don't go to the store as much.

@Nakitakona My being vegan one day is just by chance. But when I don´t eat meat I usually eat eggs or milk or both.

well you're not becoming a vegetarian if you're going to eat even a small pork steak

Although I like vegetables, but I still need to eat some meats. Otherwise I may feel hungry in a short time. Besides, I think balanced diet is better for me.

I am eating veggies but also rice or potatoes as a side dish. Normally I either have milk or eggs in the day too. But I eat meat, only less.

I have a lot of meat in the freezer now too . . . but whatever I use it for, I stretch it out as much as possible. Which means we eat less meat now too (but honestly, it's not noticeable in most dishes). Eating more vegetables is a good thing!

I know. But eggs and milk are also good proteins.

I could quite easily become vegetarian if the need arose but Vince likes his meat. We have a lot in the freezer and at the moment there is no difficulty buying it when we run out.

If this lockdown continues for months, we will all be eating grass to survive.

We have cut down on meat just because meat is pretty expensive and we don't want to go to the store that often to get more. Vegetarian meals are delicious anway!

I understand. A friend of mine says that she's been keeping a package of chicken thighs in the freezer like a totem, thinking "as long as I still have that, we're okay."
