Out my window this morning

Two red-capped parrots came to the birdbath this morning. Aren’t they colourful? We have stopped taking photos of some of the birds as they come so regularly. We don’t see these so often so we were scrambling around, grabbing cameras. Of course, Vince had to change his lens.
Then a ring-neck parrot came in and ousted the red-caps.
The red-cap ((Purpureicephalus spurius) is native to our area. It has a bright red cap (obviously, considering the name), green-yellow cheeks, and a distinctive long bill. The body is dark green, and the underparts a purple-blue. They are thought to be monogamous. In captivity, they are shy, anxious and difficult to breed. Its conservation is listed as ‘of least concern’.

Those are colorful birds that looked unreal to me. The only colorful bird we have here is what I call the yellow bird because of their color. Most birds here are black and/or brown.

@JudyEv it looks like we are the only place where birds are plain in color, waheehee. The African love bird is popular here because of the colorful plumes.

Oh my goodness they are gorgeous! I am envious of all the pretty birds people get to see. I love the birds we have, but my highlight of seeing birds is the chance to see a pigeon, no one gets excited over pigeons except for me apparently! haha!

Well, I guess some pigeons are pretty and even pigeons need people to love them.

@JudyEv I think pigeons are gorgeous haha They come in so many different patterns and colors. They may not be extremely colorful, but seeing a brown pigeon is the highlight of my week haha

@Jessicalynnt It seems in many parts of the US, bird feeders are more useful to birds. Here, it is water that the birds get low on but there is always plenty of food. I'm not saying you shouldn't have a birdbath though.

@VivaLaDani13 We have quite a few around here. One sat on our flagpole one day. I'll add the photo but you can barely see the kookaburra.

They are so colorful and beautiful. It's nice to know that they are monogamous. I was not aware of this fact that animals too can be monogamous. I always thought that they don't keep emotions in their way of choosing best genes for next generation.

Those are beautiful, you have such great animals and birds over there. I have a friend I talk to there and he and his mom feed the roos , wallabies, and all the others. They live in the outback he said. I would love to live with all those things.
