Have you ever offended?

Was there ever a time you offended someone on mylot? I accidentally offended someone, and while she didn't block me she quit answering my discussions. She's too classy to block me. I felt badly, but the damage was done. I thought I was saying something helpful, but I totally messed up. She's such a nice person though, and I doubt she's holding a grudge.
Have you offended someone here before? Sometimes people get accidentally blocked, and sometimes it's on purpose. What about you?

@myklj999 there are a couple of people on here that annoy me but I don't seem to want to bother with them these days.
One person in particular boils my blood with discussion where I just want to shake the person and say sort your sh1t out you idiot...but I just don't

although she stopped visiting your discussion, do you still visit hers and does she answer your response in her discussion?

@AmbiePam so this was the first and only time you unintentionally offended her?

I cannot imagine anyone mistaking something you wrote as being offensive, you are much too sweet and thoughtful.
This raises a question in my mind, I hope that I have never ever offended anyone.
Life is much too short for that kind of behaviour.
I like the premise of this post, it is very thought-provoking, we all need to be very aware of how we write things to each other.

@Juliaacv Very true. We must be aware we're all different and might perceive things differently. As long as we pay attention, listen carefully and do our best to understand and be understood, we'll be fine.

@sabtraversa Yes, that's a great point to take into consideration.
We should be open to learn from each other, since we all come different cultures and walks of life and have lived different life experiences. It is a very rich culture that we have here, and we enjoy a lot of personal growth, if we allow it.

Sorry to hear about your myLot friend.
I hope not, but wouldn’t be surprised if someone couldn’t take a joke. After a while, one learns who has a sense of humor and who doesn’t.
Language plays a factor here, too, and I try my best not to be insulting.
I wouldn’t worry about her. You seem to have plenty of true blue friends here.

I probably have, because I am always offering advice, wanted or not.

I'm sure I have. I have a bad case of "foot in mouth" disease....or, since I'm typing, I guess it's "hands in mouth..."

I know I get offended from time to time.
But I also know I'm sensitive so I either ignore or try to "confront" the person politely.
I usually believe they didn't mean to "hurt" me.
Silence treatment sucks though, I feel you. I hope this discussion will make her smile if she gets to read it.
Owning the mistake and apologizing is very important in this case. It doesn't matter if we don't understand why someone would get offended, feelings should always be validated, in my opinion.
Then I don't remember to have ever offended anyone, but who knows.

Yes. Once. One word in my response hit someone the wrong way. I had to apologize profusely and explain. Everything was OK after that. It was someone from another country.

I hope she fogives you. There was a Mylotter who blocked me because I just delayed my answer to her discussion. I have this attitude that today i will write discussions tomorrow, i will answer to all my notifications. but today i will answer as many discussions of others as i can.
but anyway, she is not so active here.

@Janet357 I share a similar attitude, or maybe I'm just slow.
I hate to make people wait but it can happen.
But if it's so important for some I will try my best to make it a priority.

@sabtraversa okay. but if you answer to my response quite delayed it is okay not a big deal. and above all, not the reason to block:)

I am sure I have, but as far as I know no one has blocked me on purpose..but there might be some. I do know for a fact I got blocked from one person's discussions, but we never had any drama..so I think it might have been an accident. Some people are easily offended, and sometimes we are too careless with what we say as well.

I have never intentionally offended anyone on MyLot but unintentionally who knows. When using the written word it is easy to misinterpret what has been said. This is especially so when English is not always someone's first language. Even when it is your first language other Englsih speaking countries will use words in a different way. So it is easy to say something in a way that can be taken in a different way by someone else.
Seeing as many of my comments turn out to be longer than a lot of posts I think it is more than likely that I have.

@AmbiePam well I am new on myLot but as on date I haven't offended anyone even by mistake. But I am warry of the spell check option on my mobile phone which tends to make my words offending but I take note and correct them before I press the respond button.
