Watch Dogs

So, my dining table is right up against a front window in my home. We see and hear anything going on in the street. Today for breakfasts we were having homemade biscuits and sausage patties. We thought we heard a thump. Next thing you know, Tinker is standing on his hind legs, looking out the front. Looking both ways. I could tell that down the hill a white vehicle was parked. There is a tree row that actually blocks the view. Pretty soon the city truck pulls up, and Bob and I understand. It is the day to read the water meter. Both Tinker and Mickey suddenly were behind me, on the buffet, and looking agitated. I could hear a chorus of low throated growls. Some yowling. There was a person in their yard, touching their "thing". So we are well protected by our watch dogs. The cats.

Mine just scamper away to hide but at least I do have a watch dog, she barks any time some thing gets into her yard, like the local rabbit

They do not seem to notice the rabbits, or the squirrels. They stalk the birds, run hide from the horses. They act disturbed by large vehicles. This surprised me. It was the tone of voice they use for visiting strays.

@rebelann We had a Siamese when I was very young that would jump on people's backs at the door.

I remember a friends cat years ago (siamese) who'd do that gowly thing if someone approached their door, it's a scary sound @GardenGerty

When Bella was alive, she would bark like crazy if anyone came near our apartment. Now, Daisy is carrying on Bella's legacy and barks like crazy too which she never did when Bella was here.

Daisy is now "in charge" of protecting the house.

@GardenGerty Yes, she is! I think with Bella, she knew Bella was in charge and she trusted her. Now it's her job.

Watch dogs and watch kitties are good to have. We just use our house alarm these days.

I do not know if they would really protect us, but they sure thought it was wrong of him to open that meter.

It's good they're on the scene guarding your property. I'm glad it wasn't anything to worry about.

These guys are really entertaining at times. They go up and down the tree I can see from the computer. Tinker is a big boy, but still acts like a kitten.

I have had cats that would jump on people, but only have ever had them growl at other cats, or dogs.

They hide from most things and that is why this surprised me.

Some cats can be very good attack dogs.

I bet if they were outside they would have hidden, after giving him their warning.

They are both "domestic shorthair" and their markings are "tuxedo". Tinker is white with grey and Mickey is white with black.

Good to have watch dogs and cats. My cats perk up if they hear something.
