What Kind of Flower is This?

While floating down the river the other day, we passed this one spot where this flower was growing right along the bank of the river, in the mud. Only saw it in just the one place. Anybody know what kind of flower this is? The location was the Ichetucknee River in north Florida, if that helps with identifying it based on geographic location. I’ve never seen this plant before.

Sorry, I've never seen it before either! Pretty. Maybe it's a new discovery; and it will be called Jeffus Moffittus.

Now why give such a beautiful plant such an ugly name? LOL

I'm still not too familiar with Florida flowers, but it's a pretty one. My younger son has an app on his phone that identifies flowers. Too bad he left. It's very pretty and delicate.

I only saw this one flowering plant along the entire 6-mile length of the river. And I floated down the river 3 times on Friday and two more times yesterday. Just this one plant in one spot along the river. Pretty weird.

@moffittjc Very weird. You must have a great tan btw. I’m burnt from not wearing my sunblock. I can clobber myself.

@DianneN I'm as white as a ghost right now. I need to work on my summer tan, and quickly! Summer starts in a few weeks!

There were a lot of these growing along the streets and in the parks in Singapore but I don't know what they're called.

I know in south Florida, deep in the swamps of the Everglades, they have Ghost Orchids, and at first I thought it was one of those, but upon closer inspection it looks much more like a lily. It's definitely not an orchid! lol

@CarolDM Yes, I agree! And the ghost orchids grow in the trees, but this plant was growing out of the mud on the river bank.

@moffittjc I looked but couldn't find anything. Very pretty and unique. Seems like the ghost orchid grows down. This one is growing up.

We have identified it as a white spider lily, native to Florida, and thrives in warm, wet conditions.

Hey Jeff, I think it is a white spider lily what do you think? Mom had some one year when I was young, many centuries ago. It says it is a wild flower and likes moist areas.
