Can't believe our boy is seventeen today

Nathan, that little grandson who lived with us from when he was two until he was nine has turned seventeen today! How did that happen! It couldn't have been but just a few years ago that he was playing with his Thomas the Tank Engine trains in the garden out back and had train tracks running through every room in the house. Except the kitchen. I drew the line there because I knew I would trip over them trying to cook. He started out in a crib, but when I went in there one day he was standing on the floor just grinning at me. I said, "How in the world did you get out of that crib!" Of course like a little monkey, he climbed out. So the next day he had a little toddler bed. I took him to his Cub Scout (and later Boy Scout) meetings when his daddy had to work, now Nathan's almost finished all he needs to do to become an Eagle Scout. He dad can take all the credit for that. Nathan's hoping to take some college courses next year in his 11th grade or whenever school gets back to normal after covid. He's been staying at our daughter's house in Charleston during the quarantine so they're taking him out to Olive Garden for supper tonight to celebrate, then cheesecake and gifts afterwards. Our son had to work today, but when Nathan and his cousin Landon are here next week, we'll have a second little party for Nathan then. These kids are growing up way too fast. But what a blessing they are!
