Abject failure for The Horse (in the culinary world)

As you know, I like to buy frozen stuff and doctor it up for a cheap dinner. The other afternoon, after meeting Jesus and Moses personally, and making love to a beautiful French woman (all in the toilet paper section at Safeway), I ventured into the frozen foods section of Safeway and discovered an orange chicken dish that looked promising. I bought it and cooked it up for dinner last night. All I added was a couple of hot peppers from my Filipino friend's garden here in the East Bay. The cost was about $3.50. To "cut to the chase," it was terrible. The chicken didn't get crispy, the sauce was bland, and the rice tasted "odd," if not dangerous. The overall star rating would be less than your average airplane meal. I won't burden you with more words. Don't buy this product.

Some frozen food tastes ok....mainly veggies. Other frozen foods taste like sh1t. Frozen rice avoid at all costs...frozen chicken can be ok but in a meal combo with rice I'd avoid.

@kepweng I do eat fast food but I am choosy. I I do occasionally go to mcdonalds and I know their beef patties are frozen. What I also know is that here in the UK they have to adhere to very strict food hygiene rules. Mcdonalds UK only use british and irish beef and we have some of the most strict food rules in the world...actually more strict than the US.

That's a shame it was so disappointing. Most of the TV dinners we have are very edible.

I bought a turkey one the other day and it was quite good. I think I took a picture of it, so maybe I'll do a "review" (if I didn't already).

@JudyEv Marie Callender's beef pot roast is really good, as is Stouffer's lasagna.

@TheHorse It is a long time that I do not buy ready made frozen dishes, I bought a Flammekueche ( It is a bread dough rolled out very thinly, and covered with sour cream sliced onions and pieces of bacon) last week, the ingredient were fine, but it was too thin, it did not keep together.

@LadyDuck I'm glad the flavor was good. I'm still on my eggs and bacon kick.

I think the moral here is when you make love to a beautiful French woman in the toilet paper section of Safeway, convince her to come home with you and make dinner afterward. It seems like the least she could do after getting so much from you.

If I had made her this stuff afterward, she would have denied every moment of pleasure we had together.

Well, things can go - Good -Right -Average -Bad -Pathetic when we buy a thing and use it for our Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner. Sometimes, there are promising things of good brands that fail to meet our expectations. Yet at other times, there are so called standard things that excite us and prove to be superlative. So don't despair my dear friend of the Far away Hills of California! Thou shalt have great success in near future, and failures would lead to greater success!! Have a great Sunday ahead!!

@TheHorse We used to have it often, but the kids prefer orange chicken that comes from Panda Express . I think Panda put out bottled orange chicken sauce for the stores . . . but I'm not going to buy it.

I have some in my freezer. It's not bad. I fry it in olive oil and cook up some white rice with butter on the side. Have you had it?

@much2say Panda Express's food is tolerable. But we have too many really good Chinese restaurants here. I go to Panda Express if kids are involved.

There was a brand of frozen orange chicken I liked, P something. Though that might be one to just make up yourself and freeze portions.

The stuff at Trader Joe's (this came from Safeway) is OK if you fry it up in olive oil until it's crispy and MAKE YOUR OWN RICE.

Not surprised one bit! A few things I bought in the past in the name of experiment, all turned out to be so bland! THAT reminded me of kebabs (seasoned etc, ready) from Aldi. I was so disappointed the last time we got one tray. The flavor was a bit disappointing (like there was no seasoning at all)!
