Rainy, Rainy Day

It has been a drizzly rainy sort of day here with Tropical Storm Cristobal churning in the Gulf with the eye marching north towards New Orleans, the the system is so lopsided that most all the rain is weel to the east of the eye which means that over 900 miles east of the storm is experiencing bands of rain coming in now and will throughout the day tomorrow into Monday. Even @Belle Starr and @JeffMoffitt are getting rain bands down in South Florida. The rain has been light so far here but they ay the heavier is coming as the bands the south is getting shifts more this way and north. I am glad to see that this storm is only here go to knock the drought that we have been experiencing and finishing putting out what as left of wildfires and If we have to have some tropical system I rather have this than a big hurricane. And one group that is happy are the surfers who are the only ones who are allowed in the Gulf when a single Red Flag is flying at the beach since they have their surf boards tied to their leg and I know they are praying they don't see double Red flags as that means even they are not allowed in the water.

We hope it remains a low category storm. We cannot deal with any more disaster for this year . Corona is enough .

The surfers the lifeguards dont worry too much about. It is tourists that even though they have told about the flag system for beach (gulf side) waters think they can go into the water a short distance. Most that drown here are tourists who refuse to follow flag warnings and go to areas of beach where they don't see a lifeguard though we have a couple of trucks with lifeguards that patrol over 10 miles of beach front waters. Most locals heed the the flags.

@Elizaby That's sad tourists don't heed the flags.

@just4him There is no excuse as in every hotel, rentals . at the bridges coming onto the various beaches,. The flags also include a purple flags to warn of dangerous marine life present such as jelly fish or shark.

We had steady rain all day yesterday, but the skies really opened up last night. All night long it was torrential rain, and it's still going strong this morning. I wanted to sleep in today, but it was raining so hard it woke me up at 5:00am. It's now almost 7, and it has not let up at all. We're getting reports of flooding all over Gainesville. I'm sure we can officially say our drought is over now! haha

@Elizaby That is true since the east part of the storm is the heavier side.

I am hoping Cristobal stays to the west of here in VA, the worst that would happen would be some residual rain. We usually do get hit by the ones that come out of the Carolina's though.

Why are surfers given the right to go into the water when no one else can?

The rain does have its benefits. I heard it will slither to the midwest and up to Canada. I hope the surfers understand the meanings of those flags. Many are too hasty to jump into the water.
