Breaking news - out my window this morning.

I don’t usually post two discussions so close together but here is the breaking news as they say. I haven’t seen a roo out the back for ages. I see plenty of birds at the birdbath but it seems this doe decided it was time to trim the grass behind the hedge – if you could call such a motley line of bushes a hedge. She has moved on but her yearling is coming along behind. You can see she is developing a pouch so there will be new babies tumbling out when spring arrives. In the foreground is the netting that we have around our rose trees to deter the roos from demolishing them.

How exciting! This is our time of year for new baby animals to be born. We saw a tiny deer a few days ago. So cute!

I'm not sure which would be more cute - a baby deer or a little joey.

Glad you had visitors again. My deer seems to have traveled. She will circle back around with the fawns in tow.

It will be fun seeing them grow up. Are they likely to hang around for long?

I don't worry too much about the roses. Look at this one poking her nose in where she shouldn't.

We have 18 acres and have state forest on two sides of our property. They come and go between the bush and our paddocks. They don't always get close to the house but we see them virtually every day.

Only very, very rarely. The big males, if they lose their fear of humans, might get aggressive but it's not very common.
