Dogs are great companions (cats are too) after all they are known as Man's (and Women's) Best Friend. Pooch's are always happy to greet you, don't hold a grudge, and some have even saved our lives. Dogs are trained to do some wonderful work like guiding the sightless and assisting police. And some dog breed's are extremely popular.
Perhaps you own one of the popular dog breeds named from data by the American Kennel Club (AKC) taken over the last 10 years.
What breed of dog do you own now or in your childhood? Maybe your pet was one of the most popular top 30 dogs.
Provide your dog's breed in your response and I'll check the information to see if you pup made the grade,
As for me, I had a Mutt (mixed breed dog) so mine did not make the list. And I'm not a dog expert but many of the category of breeds on this list I've never heard of?
So as not keep you in suspense #1 on the list was called a Havanese.

Ah, I've heard the Maltese is a very affectionate, playful dog with loads of energy. Your shih tzu is another breed which is lively and alert and makes a good watch dog. No one is breaking into your house without your 2 dogs sounding the alarm. Thanks for responding!

I doubt that more than one of our dogs is on the list. We've always had Spitz dogs: Norwegian Elkhounds, Norwegian Buhunds and Pomeranians.

Not on this list but those sound like interesting exotic dogs to me. Pomeranians seem like popular dogs as I've known some people who own them. Very sociable and intelligent pets! Thanks for the input

The shih tzu is a breed which is lively and alert and makes a good watch dog. The breed was developed in China. I've seen a few owners with that dog in my neighborhood. Thanks for responding!

@dgobucks226 They are very cute. My aunt used to breed Australian cattle dogs. There are a lot of them on the cattle stations.

There are a few varieties of that breed. The dog was Bred as a companion dog to the Cuban aristocracy and is the National dog of that country.
Here is another photo of one...

Kobe isn't a pure-breed dog, but I believe he's 1/2 Rottweiler. His markings are the same and his personality is very closely related.

Rottweiler is a dog I'm familiar with. Good-natured, Obedient, Devoted, and calm your dog has some nice traits according to experts. Thanks for responding!

@dgobucks226 A Rottweiler is one of the smartest breeds of dog. Because of this, their personality is easily damaged, by abuse. They have a bad reputation, because foolish people try to raise these overly sensitive canines! In the wrong hands, they can become very dangerous.

German Shepherds were popular enough and they made this survey list. The Australian Shepherd was another popular breed. My friend owned a shepherd and it was a loving protective dog.

@dgobucks226 Yes, they are very alert. The problem is that they are more bark than bite. Someone did break in when we were out and I guess they knew that the dog was alone and maybe they gave it some treats while there.

@kanuck1 Ah, the old treat distraction trick! How underhanded of those crooks
Wonder if they lived in your neighborhood and knew about the dog? Did you recoup your losses? That is a big fear of mine someone breaking in when I'm out.

A lady in the building where we lived had a husky and I really liked her. She did not want her near others. Both parts were a good combination for my dog. She was so so sweet. I also love labs too.

I really like the husky breeds. An ex-girlfriend of mine had one. They seem to really like people. Husky was a breed considered popular to own in this survey.

I had an Akita, Pit Bull and German Shepherd @dgobucks226 . All were excellent dogs. I voice and hand-command trained all 3. The Akita (Kaibutsu) was a pure-bred Japanese dog with paperwork that went back ages. The name Kaibutsu (k-eye-boot-soo) means Little Monster in Japanese. He was 150 pounds and had the biggest feet you ever saw.
