Well I am up

It is almost 4:30 a.m. I have been awake since 3. I went to bed at 8 last night because I was tired and likely because of the antihistamine for the bug sting.
We have a "light show" on the horizon--lots of lightning, but I do not hear any thunder. I think there is a little rain falling. I hope so because then I will not have to water things.
We will head to Guthrie, Oklahoma when Bob is up and fed. We will only stay a few hours. I have not seen my dad since his birthday at the end of January. He has had surgery for amputation four times since then. This time they went above the knee. He was released from the hospital yesterday.
So I know I will not be back here until this evening, at least not to post. I will try to get some house stuff done and cooking for this week ahead. I cooked a lot of red beans yesterday. Some will be part of a cold salad. Others will go to the freezer to be chili and other dishes.
I hope your plans are going well, morning or evening. See ya in a few hours.

We hope they got all the infection. He says he does not have any pain and he does not indicate that he does.

@GardenGerty I am glad, because being in pain all the time is horrible.

Enjoy your visit with your dad. Hard for him I am sure that he hasn't seen you in so long and will do him good to have you near.
I have yet to try making some black beans. Good to know you can freeze them after they are prepared for other dishes. I hate buying canned beans.

@GardenGerty I am the only one in our household that eats beans. So I have to cook small quantities or else they spoil. Hence why I tend to buy canned beans because I can eat one can in a couple of days.

I do prefer to cook dried beans rather than use canned. I have been given quite a few kinds this last year. My sister gets them in commodities and does not use them. She gets both canned and dried. We cook a lot. I just made a bean salad with red beans, canned drained carrots, pickled beets, celery, onion and bell pepper. It is a good, high protein dish to eat cold in this hot weather.

Yes, people with diabetes are prone to wounds that do not heal and get gangrene. The infection just kept going further in the bone.

He also had injuries to his legs when he was a young man. I am sad when I see him, but more sad when I cannot go visit.

That is fun. Sounds like someone gives Oreo too many treats.
