I have Viral Conjunctivitis....

Perth, Australia
July 1, 2020 6:22am CST
Sorry I haven't been on here like usual. Busy with the childcare course. Things are quite intense right now as we have our Practical Placements coming up soon which I will talk about in another post later. The past few days my nose has been a bit runny as well as sneezing way more than usual. ( I mean usually when I randomly sneeze, I only do 2 and then stop but lately I have been doing 10 - 15 sneezes at a time ). Also, for the past few days, my eyes have been stinging a bit. Going a bit red and then sometimes being watery. This morning I was unable to get ready for class and unfortunately didn't go due to my eyes being / feeling much worse. I went to the doctors and she said that I have Viral Conjunctivitis. She said she could see the redness in both of my eyes. Annoying enough since this is viral, there is nothing I can really take to help it. I just have to let it run it's course. I mean I can do things to help the stinging / burning but that's it. They are both stinging and uncomfortable but my right eye is way more sore than the left eye. I've never had any form of conjunctivitis before so this is new to me. I knew OF it but never experienced it til now. I don't really know for how long I will be on here. I want to at least take care of some notifications as I don't want to lose them but I apologise I am going to be so slow with them including answering notifications for this post and my previous one. I hope you're all well and all safe.

I'm sorry. That is so miserable. I had pinkeye when my son got it in kindergarten, my daughter got it, too. Seems like that year we were always sick with something. But yes, ours was not viral so we did the drops and got better. I hope you can shake that soon. I feel for you, it's horrible!

@CinnamonGrl Definitely. It was bringing me some very bad headaches and was hard to stay in certain lights as it hurt my eyes.

@CinnamonGrl Aw that sounds awful. But so glad you all got better with the drops. Thank you so very much for your answer. Thankfully I am so much better now. My eyes are no longer red, watery or hurting.

I am so sorry Danie, I had viral conjunctivitis many years ago I know how much it is annoying, I hope it does not hurt too much. I had eye drops to use and also a medication.

@LadyDuck Thank you very much. I am finally better which I'm so happy about as I start my Practical Placement this Monday at a Childcare. Were your eyes sensitive to light when you had conjunctivitis?

Conjunctivitis is the worst! And like you said, when you get the viral version, there is nothing you can do but let it run its course. When I get it, my eyes usually get super itchy, rather than burning. And of course, when you rub your eyes, you contaminate your hands and then you have the virus on everything you touch. That's why it spreads like wildfire around people. Anyway, I hope it goes away quickly, and that you are back to your normal self in no time!

@VivaLaDani13 I've probably had it a dozen or so times over my life. I had it really bad one year at university, when both of my eyes swelled completely shut. That was a fun time.

@moffittjc That is pretty much how it started. My eyes were getting itchy and was hurting when I was rubbing my eyes ( at that time I didn't think of it being conjunctivitis otherwise I wouldn't have been rubbing them ). How many times have you had it? Thank you very much, I am so much better now.

@Hannihar I don't know how it starts but I got it from a friend. He had it and when we thought he was better, he laid on my pillow and couple days after I used the same pillow and caught it that way. Not sure how conjunctivitis completely starts though. I just know it's highly contagious. I am thankfully better now so I went to class on Wednesday and I start my Practical Placement at a Childcare Centre this Monday so I'm glad I'm better now otherwise that really wouldn't have been good.
