Along with celebrating Canada’s birthday I’m honoring the good ol’ U.S. of A. with ten favorites that have America (or American) in the title. I think most of these songs are well known....such as this one, that kicks off the list. #10: We’re an American Band - Grand Funk Railroad There’s a couple of themes today: harder rock than you’d expect from a Buck Owens fan and three-word bands. From Bachman-Turner Overdrive we move on to Grand Funk Railroad and one of their signature tunes. Did rock bands have a reputation in the 60s and 70s? You can blame people like Keith Moon and Joe Walsh (who satirized his reputation with the line, “I live in hotels, tear out the walls” in his hit “Life’s Been Good”)....or songs like this. It’s one of the great rock and roll, concert, party, groupies, and MORE COWBELL!!!!!!!! anthems in music.
