I am a gentle creature. But don't run up on me and try to spook me.

I finally got some work recently, beneath an officer who has treated me gently and kindly. He gives me apple wafers, cleans my hooves, and talks to me gently.
As an herbivore and herd animal, I enjoy the company of others, and have an established place in my herd's hierarchy with which I am satisfied.
But run up on me like a crazy person and I WILL defend myself. For the record, I could have kicked her much harder, and inflicted serious injury. But my "instincts" told me that she was only a moderate threat. I did not ask about her political ideologies.
(A "conservative" friend sent this to me. I find it funny, and I'm glad that the girl learned her lesson but is OK. My brethren are more "nuanced" than many realize.

@wolfgirl569 Exactly! If that horse could speak English, it would say, "I'm not going to hurt this littlle girl, but she has to learn that you don't run up on a horse from behind and try.to scare it."

@kobesbuddy I am glad neither she nor the horse were hurt. Maybe the horse will become a celebrity for having the restraint not to hurt her worse.

My horse would have turned around to make friends. 'Cause every human is a possible friend.
We met some kids the other day, disabled kids going for a walk with one caretaker per kid. One of them had probably ridden before, so he just ran up to my horse and tried to climb on his back. I was walking, so no saddle. My horse was eating, so he just continued eating while the boy hang in his mane and tried to scramble on to his back.
It's not that easy to hang in the mane of a Norwegian fjord horse, since we cut them short.
