We had an appointment

We had an appointment with a dietician. Basically, the food suggestions that she had are what we try to do anyway, Bob just needs to do more of the same, more concentrated calories. She says he does show evidence of some mal nutrition. I found that interesting. His temples are sunken as well as a little in his jaws. Her other advice, which we both agree with, is that he needs to rebuild muscle in order to gain the weight back. He is supposed to weigh at home and track his weight. Exercise, and snack more. They will have a video chat in three weeks, I think. We were on our way in to a restaurant for lunch and my phone rang. We now have his next procedure scheduled. Before that procedure he has to be swabbed for Covid a few days in advance. So, two more appointments. My lawn mower is calling me this morning. I have looked at a few discussions this morning and will be back later. Have an awesome Tuesday.

I never meet actually face to face with dietician. I wonder their advice is similar like what in YouTube does?

I do not know. I know there are a lot of people who do not really know anything but will give you advice on You tube. This person went to a lot of years of college to do what she does.

@GardenGerty I agree with you. Real world dietician is better because they have real certificate and has experience for many years. I have encountered some YouTubers who are not in their field but claiming that their ways are better.

Good Morning! I hope it isn't too hot out there while you mow. Does he drink any of those protein / nutritional drinks? Or were those suggested for him? I hope he can stay on the right track with gaining the weight and muscle he needs. There is a type of drink called Body Armor. It has B Vitamins, you can get it in lower sugar varieties, and it is made with coconut water. Maybe it is something you could look into or ask the doctor about for him as well.

She wants him to have more oils and fats, butter, full fat milk, olive oil, mayo, full fat yogurt, ice cream and drinks made with all of those things. She offered him Ensure while he was in her office, but he refused.

@GardenGerty Oh I see. You do not normally cook with these things, do you? It will be an adjustment for you both.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Oh, but I DO cook with these things. That man goes through so much butter it is ridiculous. I just need to make him smoothies and shakes between meals. His VA primary ordered some more lab and is checking on B12 and Folate as well as iron. He takes supplements but they may not be enough. Some prescriptions (for instance Metformin, which I take) depletes B 12.

He will as he builds muscle. There are places he has good muscles--biceps--but needs to balance that out.

Praying your husband will be able to safely add some weight back. Praying for his upcoming surgery. Enjoy mowing. I was going to mow at the church today but overcast, rainy skies keep me home. It's okay, I can use the time to do a couple things around home.

I gott side traced working on a craft outside and pulling the weeds around and in my growing containers. I am going to have some very nice tomatoes.

Snacking more should help a lot. Eat more often but maybe smaller portions. Our lawnmower was out for 2 minutes. I discovered it was out of petrol. And then the rain came. Oh well, the lawns loss is Mylots gain

I never got mine out. I did a craft instead, then it was too hot. I am watering tomato plants in between moments here this evening.
