Visiting Maryland for a few days

Monday we left my house to visit my fiancé’s parents in Maryland. My daughter isn’t used to getting up early so she had a very upset stomach. I gave both my kids Dramamine but after a half an hour of driving my daughter got car sick. I gave her another pill after and she did fine the rest of the 5 hour drive thankfully. I had been reading a book since mid May called “The wrong bride” by Judith Arnold. I finally finished it being able to read so long while my fiancé drove. I hated the book what a waste of time reading it. Yesterday (Tuesday) we went to the bay to swim. After only above 5 minutes my daughter got stung by a jelly fish. I am allergic to bees so I keep Benedryl in my purse. I gave her that and she sat in the truck for the hour we were there. I felt terrible for her. I thought I would be in the water the whole time so I just put sunblock on my shoulders and arms. Well I have a really strange sunburn now on the rest of my body since the water wasn’t deep and I mostly just walked around. My son kayaked for the first time but it was scary for him and he didn’t enjoy it. On the way home we were hungry and stopped and got a bunch of food at Little Cesars. I got to try the new stuffed crazy bread and while it didn’t look like it does in the advertisement it was delicious! We spotted a Little free library outside of a bakery so we stopped and we got an armful of books and I bought us all donuts that were so delicious. Nice to be able to support a local bakery instead of a chain. Right before dark we went fishing. Well the guys all did and I went a long as the photo taker. They caught three catfish but forgot a bucket so the poor things were just laying on the cement. They make a weird nose and I couldn’t stand seeing them with hooks in their mouths and suffering so when his mom came to give him a bucket I got a ride back home with her. I told him if we fish with nets and release them back in the water then I’d enjoy fishing. We mailed out our wedding invitations too. I gave his parents theirs and they hung it on their fridge. This morning it was already 85°F by 9am and very humid. The boys and my fiancé are out cleaning the catfish. My son thought that meant they would wash them down with soap and water but now has learned how to skin them and cut them up and later will learn how to cook them. Photo is of a cute decoration my soon to be mother in law bought at an antique shop last week.

Sounds like a 50/50 trip. That's not bad. Sorry your daughter has had a tough time on the trip.

@Courtlynn we go home tomorrow. I am hoping she won’t get sick again from having to get up so early for the drive home.

Sounds like kind of a mixed trip. That's funny about the soap and water. I hate thinking about those creatures out on the cement like that. The catfish. Things like that make me crazy.

@CinnamonGrl being a vegetarian since I was 7 this fishing was not for me. They went fishing to a different place tonight and I stayed at the house. I can’t handle watching that another night.

@LadyDuck I did enjoy it but am glad to be home. From sitting around their house so much instead of moving around cleaning and taking the dog out etc I had really bad restless legs most nights while trying to sleep.

That teapot looks gorgeous filled with the succulents. I'm sorry your weekend wasn't a bit more pleasant.

@JudyEv sitting here next to it while eating cereal I see the tea pot has been broken and repaired. I didn’t notice that before.

She sounds very nice. Roomie wants to go fishing soon...I told him if he fishes here he doesn't need to worry about a license, all private owners here, and no one hassles you.

@snowy22315 that is awesome there’s a place there you can fish without needing a license. That’s definitely one thing my property lacks is a pond. My fiancé wants land with one but I personally don’t care either way.

@snowy22315 a natural waterfall on my property would be the most incredible thing to have!

@shaggin I wouldn't mind a pond but would rather have a waterfall. A waterfall going into a pond would be nice. Sis has friends who have that set up. She was showing pics.

What a pretty plant holder your MIL got at the antique shop. Sounds like you're having a good time visiting with a few hiccups along the way. My grandson learned how to kayak this past week too and it took awhile to get the hang of it. Hope you enjoy the rest of your trip and your daughter has a better trip home than going.

The succulent plant is really catchy. It's good that your son learns very fast and seems to have enjoyed every activity they had. Congrats in advance!

@bbghitte he loved fishing but not kayaking. I’m not fond of either so I’m glad he enjoys fishing at least. They went fishing again tonight.

@Adie04 unfortunately yes my daughter has had motion sickness since birth. My son has had it since he was about 4. They have to take medicine anytime we drive farther then 10 minutes.
