Trout and asparagus for dinner tonight

My mom was placing an order from Lidl and asked me if I want some fish. I asked her to order me some trout. That's what I will be making for dinner tonight, along with some asparagus. I think I will just pan fry both. The trout is not a whole fish. It is a piece of it with the skin attached on one side. There are no bones, unless they accidentally missed some. However, the scales are not removed. That means before cooking the fish I will have to stand there and remove all the scales. And afterwards, I will have to wash the sink as it will most likely smell like fish. I am not looking forward to all that. I don't get why they can't just remove the scales... What are you having for dinner?

I ate some cooked veggies with mayonaise. Later, I will eat a fruit for dessert.

Your dinner sounds good, Never had to remove scales from trout luckily enough. I am on a restricted eating plan designed by my wife Tonight it was noodles. Thats it, noodles

Last time my parents got me salmon. It wasn't a whole fish but a piece of it with the skin on. It scales on it as well and I had no idea. That piece was bigger than the trout and cleaning it took longer. You had noodles by themselves or mixed with something? And what's your eating plan? A specific diet?

@JimBo452020 Will you get in trouble if you don't follow what she says? If I had to count portions and calories I would not be able to do that for long... I'd drop that very quickly.

@lovebuglena Noodles by themselves. Her plan is simple. 3 tiny meals per day. Total 1500 calories No fat. No salt. No or next to know sugar. Lots of veg. Lots of water. Its easier just to do as asked. Not even any chocolate.

I miss asparagus. I used to mix it with my special vegetable dish of broccoli and cauliflower. It is not available in the market anymore.

Why is it not for sale anymore? Not in season? I don't eat asparagus often at home. It's been a while since I last had it.

@lovebuglena asparagus comes from the northern provinces that have a cool weather. Maybe it is the effect of the previous lockdown.

@Alexandoy What's your typical weather where you live? Is it hot and humid in the summer?

I love trout! It's been quite a while since I've had it though. I hope you enjoyed the dinner, despite having to de-scale the fish!

When I looked at that raw trout, if it didn't have a label on it I'd have thought it was salmon.

@lovebuglena I always thought trout was more of a gray color than a pink color. But maybe I'm wrong.

@moffittjc They are very similar color-wise.

I ask the fish market to cut away the skin on fish if there is any. Do you add anything to the trout when you cook it, such as seasonings or spices?

Don't remember if I ever made trout before. But I will add sea salt and 21 seasoning salute spice from Trader Joe's and will baste with butter. Then will squeeze some fresh lemon on the fish when ready to eat.

Sounds delicious. Our food was great, although I used coarse cumin salt on the fish and put a little more than I should have as I've not used that before and thought some might fall off the fish. The skin turned out a bit salty because of it.

@LindaOHio The taste was good though. I've never put cumin on fish before.

They say that the nutrients we get from a fish are in the scales. But it also causes uric acid. I am thinking of having a spam.
