...And the Reward

So....what was waiting at the top of those 167 steps that I mentioned in the previous discussion?
THIS.
Mingo Falls.
There are no words to describe the stunning view as you walk around a wall of rock and climb onto a bridge to see the falls.
It is a sheer drop from the top of a mountain. Additionally, other places along the side of the mountain let water run down, almost as if it were gushing out of the mountain itself.
I stood in awe. I praised God. I cried.
It was unbelievable.
I didn’t want to leave.
What a reward for climbing those stairs!!!

Yes he did. Just stay away from him when he's carrying a tomahawk. He just might miss his target

I really love your photo of the waterfall. It is a such a place that I adore visiting. It was a pity the trail up to there had so many steps. Often pain must happen before a beautiful view can be appreciated. I remember seeing a stunning waterfall in Iceland. It is hard to leave such a magical view as a thundering waterfall.

Most of the waterfalls in the Smoky Mountains require a walk — usually strenuous — to reach. The Sinks is at a parking lot, and Cataract Falls is a level walk through the woods behind the Sugarlands Welcome Center. There are a couple of waterfalls near the Bryson City, NC entrance that are easy to reach. Most of the others require a lot of hiking and perspiration...something my poor lungs just can’t take anymore.

That looks like beautiful falls. Is there a pool below where you can swim?

No, it’s quite rocky all the way down. Lots of swimming nearby, though.

@FourWalls so after the incredible climb to the falls you can then swim and cool off

Here’s another shot, from behind the bridge. This may give a little better indication as to the magnitude of that waterfall.

It was so comfortable there. It was about 77 degrees, as opposed to about 90 on the other side of the mountain when I left after lunch.

Waterfalls, small, big, any kind, I absolutely love them. Bonus if they are surrounded by gorgeous rocks and lovely greenery like this one.
