Called poison control this morning!

In the pool the other day, Horse Jr. was repeating what his mother had told him about how the Illuminati is poisoning our children. Specifically, he mentioned how it says on his tooth paste tube that you should call Poison Control in a young child gobbles up too much tooth paste. This shows that there's poison in tooth paste. He even brought a tube of tooth paste over this morning to show me (I had read the same warning the night before on my own.) I said "Let's find out!" and called Poison Control. Horse Jr. said "No way! I'm not involved in this!" The guy at poison control (after only about a minute's worth of menus and waiting) was professional and told me that the fluoride in tooth paste, while not poisonous, could cause a tummy ache in some children if you swallow too much of it. He said the best solution is to give the child some milk, ice cream, or yogurt. Horse Jr. said "He could be lying!" Then we went back to packing up my truck.

From what you say, Horse Jr´s mother is a very poisonous lady. Pity!

She is very odd. Has a lovely succulent garden, though!

@TheHorse I have lots of cacti too. Yet I hope I did not poison my daughters´ minds so much.

@marguicha I made it home from Montana and we went swimming yesterday afternoon. Earlier in the day, she called me and thought Horse Jr. was over here and not answering his phone. I told her I had not seen him and went to check on him. He was under his headphones (on his tablet) and so did not hear her call. I told him in my angry dad voice to call his mother immediately. He did. She thanked me.

Isn't it awesome that we can all a place and get reliable response and information? Is there a place we can call for the right thing to do about COVID-19? Because I'm getting sick and tired of the news.

I just wear my mask (when indoors in a public place), social distance, and hope for the best.

@TheHorse You mean California hasn't enacted wearing a mask if you're outside your home yet? (That went into effect here a few weeks ago. "Here" being Springfield, Mo.) From what I understand you aren't required to wear a mask in your car but anywhere else outside your home you are required to wear it.

@DaddyEvil Honestly, I'm not sure exctly what the "rules" are here. In Montana, some stores required masks. Others did not.

Dare you leave sensistive Horse Jr in the care of his mother? You may not recognize him when you get back.

@BarBaraPrz He's 11 1/2, so he's getting a bit mouthy. But he's a good kid overall. I wonder how he'll react when he's old enough to know that his mom is a bit nutty.

I have heard some of the things going around about too much fluoride, but it was never about the Illuminati . Poison ivy has poison, but it doesn't have poison control's number on it. Funny how Horse Jr. mentioned "lying" . . . eek . . . what all is his mom telling him !

@TheHorse There would be some interesting conversations/discussions for sure . . . but I just don't know that I would agree with a lot of it . . . sorry but some conspiracy theories are really, really out there .

@much2say What? Why would you think or say that, SmilePie? You're making it sound like conspiracy theories have no basis in truth and we both know that isn't what you mean to say, at all! BTW, you know the Illuminati control our government, the entire medical profession as well as the FDA, right?

Essentially that to be enlightened you have to agree with everything she says, most of which apparently comes from conspiracy theory websites.

@gr8nana6 He does. And he and I think like scientists together. He will challenge his mother's thoughts at the appropriate time. I just hope she doesn't kick him out of the house before he's 18.

It is amazing at all the trace amounts of poisons in all the things we use. Add them all up and it is alarming. Back to toothpaste, your dentist may recommend fluoride treatments. This goes into overload with the amount in your toothpaste. My oldest daughter ended up with streaks on her teeth after dentist recommends fluoride treatment. The streaks disappeared with time and no more treatments, but goes to show how money hungry some are!

I guess it depends on which conspiracy site you've been reading lately. Personally, I try to stay away from conspiracy nuts and their websites. (Uhm... that may be why all the people on myLot who tell things they read and/or write about conspiracy related "news" have blocked me. I tend to let them know they are mistaken and give links to the true facts on whatever they're repeating here. *shrug*)

@popciclecold I don't mind them blocking me but I wish they'd remember I can't respond to them when they leave responses/comments on my discussions after they've forgotten they blocked me. (I get a notification but can't see what they said on my discussions unless I log out of myLot and read the comment while logged out.) I think that is a total design flaw in the myLot programming.

Oh, my! Until Horse Jr. gets some real life experience away from his mother, you're fighting a losing battle, pony. If you want to have some fun you could tell him to read about the ingredients that make up common table salt and then read the warnings about sugar. I bet he'd quit using both very quickly. Unfortunately, no matter what ingredients are used, everything is capable of causing some children (and some adults) to have trouble with them. There will always be people who have allergic reactions to some substances and others can kill someone if not dealt with carefully.

@TheHorse You are doing a good job teaching that but I really wish he'd start using that kind of thinking when it's his mom who tells him weird stuff. (Yes, I know he's getting to the age where he'll start questioning everything she tells him. I just wish he was there already.)

Lobster would put me in the hospital on a breathing machine, but the idea sounds like good advice, otherwise.

@DaddyEvil In one discussion, Horse talked about some of the beliefs of the mother and what she is telling the boy. Some of her ideas are quite bizarre. Which is why I used 'brain-washing'.

@JudyEv I saw that, too. It does help that he will soon start questioning everything she tells him... I just hope he doesn't try to challenge her beliefs until he is out of her home and into his own. I seriously don't wish him any more challenges growing up that he has to have.
