I ask "who is there?" but get no response...

Yesterday, I was getting ready to go into the shower when I heard the front door open and someone walking in. My husband was supposed to be at work. The only other person with keys to my house is my dad but he is out of town so I knew it was not him. No one else should be able to get inside, unless it's a burglar. I asked "who is there?" a few times but there was no response. I was starting to panic a little. I was even thinking of going downstairs to see who was there, not caring that I was naked. But then I asked a third time "who is there?" and the person answered. It was my husband. He had left work very early, so we could go to his cousin's house for a barbecue / pool day. I asked him why he didn't answer me the first two times I asked and he said he didn't hear me. Then I asked him why he didn't tell me he was gonna leave work earlier. His reply was "I thought I did." Not good...

That would have freaked me out, especially if I was just getting ready to get in the shower. And if I was absolutely sure I heard the door open and close, but no one answered when I called, I'd be running to my bedroom to grab my pistol.

@moffittjc Yeah. But if I am freaking out and in panic mode I might forget the fact that I should probably put on some clothes.

@Hannihar I don't like the fact that he didn't tell me and thought he did.

Husbands are usually like this

Husbands can also leave the house and not tell you they are leaving or where they are going or when they will be back. At least mine does that sometimes.

What are wives usually like?

@Glory19 I don't think wives would leave work early and show up at home without a heads up to the husband.

In our house there is the main and door and then the glass door. Someone opened the glass door yesterday (it's not locked). I did not expect anyone. That startled me. I looked out the window and saw a post office truck nearby. Thought it must have been a delivery but I did not order anything. Went downstairs to check and indeed there was a package. It was for hubby and was placed between the glass door and the main door. I had no idea he had ordered anything. And he never told me. I wonder why the mailman never rang the bell. They usually do.

It's the scariest thing to hear a sound in your house and not know what it is. It's even scarier if you're in the shower. That PSYCHO panic sets in.

I did not get into the shower yet. I was at the sink. Would have been worse if I was already in the shower. I'd probably panic even more. How can a husband forget to tell his wife he is coming home early and early by a lot?

Maybe your husband wanted to surprise. Sometimes I do that too to my wife. When she is in the bedroom and would call out my name, I wouldn't answer, waheehee. That would spook her sometimes.

My husband and I can’t hear each other two rooms away. It happens. Perhaps your hubs thought he did tell you. It sounds as if he has a lot going on.

He did think he told me but I let him know that he did not. Not the first time he thought he told me something when he actually didn't. Too early for that. He is only in his late 30s.

Yeah. One time my dad came to visit but didn't tell me he was coming. Instead of ringing the bell he opened the door with the key. I freaked out a little because I was not expecting anyone.
