Leave Politics out of Sports

Before the Blackhawks game yesterday they had some kind of ceremony. Usually they just have the national anthem or if it is a Canadian team and a US team playing they will do both national anthems, like it was the case yesterday.
But before playing that the NHL decided to have some ceremony thing where some guy I have no idea who he was gave some speech about diversity, racism and black lives matter. Seemed to ramble on forever but it was maybe 10 minutes. All I could think was how disappointed in the NHL I was.
I wish we could leave politics out of sports, I tune into sports to escape all the world crap, I don't want it in sports.
I know at one point he said racism is a world wide problem, I don't disagree with that, but I wonder why he then knelt for the US anthem but then stood for the Canadian anthem? Do they not have racism in Canada?
Maybe I am uneducated, but If he says racism is a world wide problem doesn't that mean Canada has that same problem? Canada is still considered part of the world right?

The whole systemic racism thing is PC police gone mad again. It just one big copy cat version of "see we care" and it just comes off as so insincere to me. I think I may have to give up watching sports altogether if this becomes an every game event like Pro Football. One word describes this recent occurrence of all sports kneeling..."OVERKILL"

@Bensen32 Yes, money is definitely the major factor in their decision not coming to a realization that there has been some past or recent social injustice to African Americans.

All sports are a part of this and need to be boycotted including NASCAR. You heard about the Bubba Wallace BLM story in NASCAR recently? They are caving to politics and are losing fans including me. I won't watch another race. I am that pi@@ed off. I really have not watched a race in two or more months and I used to be one of their biggest fans.

When my husband was a pro soccer player, they played each country´s national anthems before the international games..Both teams were respectful of the other and nothing else was said.

We are part of the world here in Canada.
I do not see coverage on the news about people in our country taking a knee.
That is not something that we do.
That may be the explanation for it.
All of that nonsense will turn people off from sports, because that is not necessary or appreciated.

Yeah the taking a knee is just another way that our countrymen are dividing the country.
