Look What I Saw in the Yard Yesterday

Was out yesterday refreshing the bird bath. Always looking around for a surprise to share. Tah-dah there it was. A tiny bird hopping around the yard. NOT a bluebird. Wasn't sure at first what this baby was. I followed it around, snapping photos with my phone of course. It would stop, and I would stop. Didn't want to scare it too bad. I was in the grass following him around. CBL Crazy bird lady here! Then I heard the Mom or Dad call to the bird from the trees. It was such a cool experience. The baby would chirp, then the adult would answer. The baby finally started following the sound of the adult. And they were reunited and ran off into the cypress trees in the yard. Reminded me how vulnerable these tiny babies are once they leave the nest. This bird is a Carolina Wren. I could tell from the adult, they are easy to recognize. Like the ones in the nest that was destroyed awhile back in my yard. Look at that face! Gotta love these baby birds. Had to share my excitement for the day.

@CarolDM I had a feeling you would try to get as close as you could to him, and possibly even try to coax him over to you somehow.

The baby bird is sitting on the ground looking at the camera. See his foot the the right of him?

@sophie09 Do you see his two yellow beaks, one of each side? Look right behind the beaks.

That’s a sweet story. I would say it made my day, but I just had a massage.

It was the massage, not my story that made your day.

It's a beautiful photo. It's good you were able to identify the bird type. He looks innocent and vulnerable like all babies.

Funny, I was on my hands and knees trying to keep up with him, he was hopping pretty fast. I am sure the neighbors get a kick out of what I do. I don't care, it is what I enjoy. Very exited to see the baby. Hope he stays safe. The birds have most gone except for a few robins and now blackbirds.

It's always so wonderful when you get to see a baby reunited with it's parents. You're so lucky and boy what a neat shot. That baby blends in so well I almost couldn't make out where the head was but I eventually did.

The Carolina Wren is one of my favorite bird visitors. Very noisy especially when their hungry and want me to put out more seeds.

Ohhhhh, how adorable!!! I'm glad the baby and parents were able to communicate and reunite. It always made me nervous to see fledglings (is that what they call them) away from their safe place - but well, I guess they just continue to test out the world and survive after that.
