Another typical Montana moment

When I go to our family cabin in Montana, there are always projects to be done. That is a big part of why I like being there. I am never bored. This Summer, two cross-pieces on my bridge had rotted out. They were near the "shore" or the creek, and there is high water there in the early Spring. I took three pieces out, cut down a dead Douglas Fir tree, and replaced those pieces. The bridge should last through the Winter. Here is a picture of the bridge with the pieces removed. The new pieces fit nicely. Do you like doing small projects like this?

$29.00 specials. They don't even have steel toes. But my feet survived.

@TheHorse No, those are not hiking boots, but good for working. I still have my hiking boots, I hope to go again.

Thanks! Heh. They're my all purpose boots. They are NOT good for hiking, though.

@LadyDuck I have some dedicated hiking boots around here somewhere. I never did wear them in Montana this Summer.

It is wonderful that you have a cabin in Montana. You go there to relax yet you find handy man types of jobs to do. Well done for mending the bridge.

@TheHorse Today I took my dogs for a walk and I could hear the wind blowing. It is lovely you get pleasure from doing little projects.

@maximax8 I am glad you could hear the wind blowing. Does that mean you didn't have earbuds in?

Exactly. It brings me pleasure to do my little projects. And to hear the wind in the trees.

Looks good! Actually, we have an appointment for an estimate of a new deck today. My husband is in charge of small projects and does a fine job. A deck is not one of them. You know that I don't want to get my hands dirty.

People in my country are more willing to be drowned in river than build a bridge.

I might have to tear my bridge up next Summer. One of the long spans is starting to rot.

Glad you were able to fix that. I could only hammer my thumb and that is about it. The best I have done with hammer and nail is put up some pictures.

Worikng with tools is fun for me since I spend so much time here (in California) writing and teaching. But you know I always have my "projects" going on the side. Heh.

I had some boots like that. Although Lily (my cat) scratched them up so I got some black ones and scratched up one, but it's not as noticable.
