Do you trust your auto correct?

I barely know how to use my mobile phone and I certainly don’t know how to text someone. I hear all sorts of stories about autocorrect and how it can be very ‘incorrect’ at times. I heard today of someone who is now turning her autocorrect off because of this. Instead of sending off the message ‘I am enjoying eating polenta’, it sent ‘I am enjoying eating placenta’. What an embarrassing error. So I’m wondering what is the funniest autocorrect that either you’ve heard of or that has happened to you. The photo was a funny sign we saw in Melbourne once – in the days before COVID-19.

@gr8nana6 Mostly I replace a letter with an asterisk. I don't use 'bad' words but sometimes it picks up part of a word and says it's 'bad'. Sn*gger is one it doesn't like.

The auto corrects can be really funny. I just make sure to read it carefully before sending in case of any auto correct mistakes.

It got me last week, when I posted "Colour My World." It thought Terry Kath's name was "Terry Katy."

I love that sign. I watch every word I text and ignore autocorrect. It tries but I won't let it.

The nice thing about it is when I type a letter or two and it predicts the word. I just have to touch the word and it is in my message. And it never changes the words I touch. I hardly typed any full words here. Very handy for my mystery shop.reports, as you use the same words often. So they pop up to select.

That's really handy. There used to be a 'glossary' function on Word which I found really useful but it seems to have disappeared. It did the same thing. It's good it doesn't change the words.

@JudyEv I know what you are saying about using your phone. I type very slow on the phone and prefer to use my computer while typing and working. I believe I have used autocorrect and do not remember if helped or not.

Oh my God that was a good one! I can't remember the last time I screwed it up when writing having my autocorrect on, indeed it makes mistakes, but I usually read twice what I write before sending it, even more when it is in English language!

My sister gets a big laugh from my texts!! I like being able to speak the text as it is easier than trying to type out a long text. But, sometimes the words that are sent are not what is actually said. So, I feel it is my way of making people laugh or really think!

I hate autocorrect because of how many times it puts the wrong word in. But I still use it because I have forgotten how to spell so many words. Here's a little autocorrect joke that I posted on my twitter feed once: We'll, we'll, we'll, autocorrect strikes again!
