The last ones for the season.......

The season of mangoes has come to an end here. We had none in last 3-4 weeks. It starts a bit early in South Indian states and ends by July mid. Though in North India, you can still find it till September.
On Saturday we received this box of mangoes from our friend. They harvested it from their farmhouse and this might be last harvest of the season. Since no guests are allowed inside our premise, she left the box with security at gate and my husband took the car to collect it. My daughters were super excited to receive this surprise gift
. We thought that we have to wait for another season for yummy mangoes.
. These mangoes are of Neelam variety, a popular one in our state.
They were semi ripe when we got it. But in a couple of days they are all ready and ripe. We did have few slices as dessert for every meal in last three days. But still we have enough left. And I have to consume them before they are rotten. I asked my neighbors but seems they too have few kilos from their native and they are not keen on having more. My other friend lives in other part of city and I have no time to visit her to share some with her.
So I am going to make a few desserts today with mangoes.
Now it's lunch time. I have a break of one hour before the next class starts. I will be free by 3:30.
Till my husband and daughters are done to join for lunch, I will sit here and mylot

It looks like what we call Indian mangoes. They are sweet when ripe.

Oh! You get it in winter. Here in India we get them in Summer. Only a few varieties are perennial and you get those twice in year..summer and winter. But they are not so much available and don't taste that sweet.

I'll take some if they dont want that.
You can also make some mango jam if you think you can't finish it all before it gets rotten.
