Spinning Spools

Two weeks ago we headed to Ontario to visit the children and grandchildren. Who could resist stopping at a quilt shop along the way and picking up a kit for another Quilter's Trek block. Blue is my favourite colour. This block is a bit more towards the aqua, but it will bled quite well with the other pieces of my quilt. The background is pieced and then the spools are appliqued and then embroidered. Having time on my hands (quarantine), I decided to hand embroider the thread on the spools. The end result pleased me. On to the next block/row.

The pattern and fabric were together in a kit. All I added was the embroidery after it was assembled. Some of the kits are awesome...some are not as well coordinated as I like.

When I purchase a kit, I don't get to choose the colours.....other than the embroidery. The colours appealed to me, or I would merely have picked up the free pattern.

Blue is my favourite colour. This was such a vibrant colour and all the fabrics play well together.

Thank you. I enjoy the entire process. Just the tidying up afterwards is something I dread.

That looks really nice. It would be nice to do a bit of hand embroidery from time to time.

It was the it of creativity that lifted the block from being, ho hum to becoming eye catching.

Thank you. I finished a couple more blocks yesterday. (I used the online photo to create the pattern, and fabric from my stash.). Later today I'll need to take some more photos so I can post them.
