My dad is back home from the hospital....

Perth, Australia
August 24, 2020 1:00pm CST
It's 2am here. My dad came home yesterday. I didn't tell him but his face looked so pale when I first saw him. Not sure what that was all about but that all seems fine now. I almost cried a few times while talking to my dad but I held it together in front of him. He told me that this time around, (4th time being in hospital) for some reason he thought he was going to die. He doesn't know why. Maybe due to having continuous fevers and feeling sick during the first week. He broke down a couple times while being in hospital which I feel awful for. He also told me something I didn't know. He purposely didn't tell me because he didn't want me to worry but now that things seems ok, he told me. Just before he had that bypass surgery (helping blood flow in his leg), the surgeon told my dad that if this surgery didn't work, he was going to lose his leg. he didn't, I know but just to hear that made me feel sad as it did my dad. I also learned that the bug (infection) that was in my dad's foot was a rare type of bug. Which annoyed my dad in a "of course!" type of way. Like it just had to be a rare thing. My dad, though seems ok for now, will always be at risk so we need to be so careful with his foot. My dad is on the lounge right now. The poor thing is in pain with his leg. There are 3-4 cuts. The cuts are pretty deep so he is going to be in some pain for quite some time. My dad keeps apologising for having me do so much but I don't mind at all! I'd rather run around doing whatever I can than have him having a hard time walking and being in pain. I need to help cover his foot and arm (he has a pick line in his arm and I THINK something else) when he is about to shower so it all doesn't get wet. He has something attached to him that is giving him antibiotics (I think) so he has to carry this little bag around at all times. I am going to try get some sleep as I want to get up early to make breakfast for him and whatever else he may need. Will come back on later in the day hopefully and answer notifications. For now, good night from me. Thank you for reading and hope you're all well.

@MommyOfEli2013 Thank you kindly. It has been quite rough if I'm honest. Things seem to be ok at the moment but we are still very cautious.

@VivaLaDani13 Just trying to figure out what to do with my life. It's time to take my life in a different direction. I have been so unhappy at my career for so long that I feel like I've missed out on so much of the joys of life. Quitting my job was such a blessing, although I do need to find another job here soon or I'll be homeless out on the streets without income! So I'm applying like crazy to various jobs, but otherwise I'm doing great right now, and feel overjoyed at the release of so much stress and angst in my life.

@moffittjc I am very happy and support you 100% with your decision. I know this whole job thing was on your mind and I'm happy to know what you decided to do. I wish you luck on getting a job. I don't know if it's a bit difficult over there with COVID like it is here regarding jobs but I know you'll be perfect for whatever job comes your way. You're hard working and smart. You'll do great. Til then, all the best getting a job and one that makes you happy and satisfied.

@TheHorse You're very sweet! He is still dealing with pains here and there in his leg but it mainly happens when he sits down or tries to get back up. He is doing alright at the moment regarding the surgery and foot.

@GardenGerty Thank you and yeah he sure would. I know he did whatever he could when I used to have gallbladder attacks. Or just anything negative I was going through in general he had always been there like I have and always will be there for him.

l am sorry for the ordeal you are facing right now. Am glad that your dad is hoe already. But the way you described him means that healing will be a very long way still. I hope and pray that he goes well soon enough so you could enjoy each other’s company again with no more pain and be healed. Stay strong for him as he would need to have a lot of time to do so.

@JudyEv I understand, I am definitely doing whatever I can to look after myself also. I think the only thing I'm having trouble with is the sleeping thing. Not that that was always my strong point but as of late, it's been quite hard. Thank you for your kind words.
