A mishap in the kitchen

Yesterday, I decided to do beef burgers for dinner. We had a pound of ground meat. That produced four patties. We would not be able to eat two burgers each in one sitting so the other two were supposed to be for today. I told hubby that and said he had to fry only two patties. I saw hubby put one patty into the cast iron skillet but then I looked away for a second and when I turned back around I saw four patties cooking instead of two. skillet. I asked him what he was doing and reminded him that he was supposed to only fry two patties. He realized what he had done but of course it was too late to take the other two out. So, tonight we will be eating burgers made with reheated patties. They were really juicy yesterday. Hopefully, they won't be dry after reheating in the microwave. I've never done that before.

I eat leftovers all the time, and most of the time I find that if eaten the next day most foods still have plenty of juicy flavor left in them.

@lovebuglena I agree, there are a lot of foods that don't really release their full flavor until they've had time to sit for a day or two. That's why I say that people who don't like leftovers are really missing out on some of the best tasting meals!

@moffittjc Especially cabbage soup. The older it is the better it tastes.

Sometimes the food tastes better on the second day, especially if it is soup.

Me too. This is the first time something like this happened. I thought of telling him to take the two patties out as he had just put them in but they were already cooking so didn't seem like the right thing to do.

The cast iron skillet did the trick I think. They were still juicy and full of flavor.

Hubby put them in a cast iron skillet to warm them up. They were not tough or dry. Very juicy.

Since you cook them only to a medium-rare, they should be fine.

Hubby put them on the cast iron skillet and there were still juicy. Not overdone.

But a glass of water in the microwave while reheating them. They will not get dried.

We decided to do them in cast iron skillet instead for a few minutes. The patties were not dry at all. Very juicy.
