Long Day and Typical Yicky Monday!

I mentioined the other day that my mom is not sleeping and her walking through the house and piddling all night keeps both me and hubby awake or wakes us up.
I have been finding odd things in weird places so I know she is getting into things she should not. This is worrysome because she could get a butcher knife out and hurt herself. Or she could start a fire on the stove. There are endless possibilities.
I started thinking about the restlessness and remembered that last year around this time she had a UTI and was almost dehydrated. So hubby and I decided to take her to the ER today and have her checked out.
It was a good thing we did because she was dehydrated and her blood pressure was elevated. They ended up admitting her for the night and we will see how the new blood pressure medicine words out. She was confused and didn't know where she was so that was worrysome also. They did not let me go in with her but kept me posted via telephone.
My husband and I waited in the car for four hours to see if they were going to keep her. I called to check on status and the security guard checked and said she was being admitted. Then 45 minutes later the doctor called and said she would probably be admitted. She was supposed to call back at 9 pm but I didn't hear from her.
So that is how my week started out. I hope yours was better.
The photo is of the geese that were at the hospital today. They roamed all the way around the hospital.

I’m sorry Karen. I know how frustrating this terrible disease can be. My mama got some scissors and butchered her hair. It was a blessing that she didn’t hurt herself. I hope that you can get some sleep tonight. I know you need a break.

@wolfgirl569 She stayed in ER all night with blood pressure still elevated. We are trying to get her moved to long term care facility upon discharge.

I don't know what happened last night at the hospital but I was asked a lot of questions this morning. We have decided to move her to a nursing home with the memory care program. Right now they are doing more testing at the hospital and hopfully she will be moved by the weekend.

You were smart to get her to the ER and hopefully getting hydrated and a change in her blood pressure meds will help.

Sorry to hear this about your mother, but glad you decided to have her checked out to make sure she was okay. It can be scary when you have to worry about what she could have been getting into while you and hubby were sleeping. I went through the same thing with my mother. My brother and I would always have to keep dangerous things hidden, and we would always go in the kitchen and find the stove left on or something burning in a pot. We finally unplugged the stove altogether so mom couldn't use it.
