Pandemic observations

I met my friend for coffee and a visit at Wendy's in Hillsboro. We thought the lobby was open. It was not. So we got drive thru food and sat in her car.
As we were talking we kept seeing trucks, cars pull into the "over flow parking", and keep on driving.
Then we noticed people parking at the back of the property, getting out lawn chairs and going over and sitting.
This is how these older people are coping with the restaurant being closed. In the past we always saw tables full of people visiting around cups of coffee. Now they cannot go inside.
So instead, they took their visiting to the great outdoors. I am glad for them. Many older people do not have much in the way of a social life. This is one way for them to visit all together.
This is how they are managing the pandemic.

I imagine the smiling, happy faces having a good peaceful time together outdoors.
Mass quarantining the healthy people is troubling, isn't it? But we fight back.

It seems that sometimes we do not know for sure if we are healthy, so they restrict all of us.

Nice they are even allowed to do that. I agree with Mrs. Wonder @everwonderwhy it is plain wrong to quarantine healthy people.

I have been getting together, socially distant, outdoors, since May. The town where this Wendy's is is a college town. Students are back, and they have brought the virus with them unknowingly. I also wonder if they are having a hard time finding enough people to work to open up the dining room/lobby. To clean and sanitize properly takes more people. It seems that with just drive through they can run with just three or four workers total.

Even though our restaurants are open again, but limited to a certain capacity, many are still setting up chairs in the parking lot to enjoy social visits with loved ones.
There are tables set up, all 6 ft. apart and most are occupied when the establishment is open.

@GardenGerty we only get takeout food. Pizza, burgers, etc. I would like to go to a restaurant and pick up an order to have at home or go to a lake for a picnic.

I think that is great. I am enjoying saving money by not eating out as often. We have enjoyed some meals out, but much fewer.

While the weather is decent, it is good to do. I hear we may have fall type weather next week.

It's all hit or miss. One fast food store won't let anyone in the place, another will but only at certain "socially distanced" tables and you're to leave your garbage on the table so that they know the table needs to be disinfected. Some stores will let you use their washroom while others won't. Costco will let you come into the restaurant area and order your food but you have to take it outside to eat.

Nothing is consistent, I know. I have had a dining in experience in one full service Mexican restaurant, but right down the street a coffee shop has set up outdoor canopies for guests. Not having access to public restrooms can be very annoying.

That does not make sense to me either. This is a nice lawn with mature trees and is pretty nice. If they could not gather here, there is at least one nice park not too far away. I am sure Wendy's appreciates their continued business.

Yes, me too. Otherwise their time would likely drag.

They seem to enjoy the time. It seems almost every town has retirees that want to be together in the morning to visit and have coffee.
