Beware of a New COVID-19 Symptom!!

A nice photo of the sign welcoming people to the closed-until-further-notice Eisenhower museum. Photo taken by and the property of FourWalls.

There’s a symptom of COVID-19 running rampant. It’s peculiar, in that it seemingly only attacks government employees, and leaves them otherwise healthy. That symptom? Laziness. As I mentioned earlier, I went to the Eisenhower Library, Museum, and Boyhood Home today. It was locked up tighter than Fort Knox. On the door was a sign saying that the National Archives (the agency that manages presidential libraries) was keeping all archival places closed until further notice because of COVID-19. Now, if you’ve been following me on this trip you know that a couple of days ago I was in a federally-run museum: the Oklahoma City National Memorial. That is run by the National Parks Service, so they are obviously immune to COVID, while the National Archive employees are not. Listen, folks, it’s been SIX FREAKING MONTHS since this all started. You’re trying to tell me that the federal government, the state governments, and/or local governments haven’t found a way to enact safety protocols to get things moving at a regular clip....while the Subway down the street has????? This reminds me of that old joke: “How many people work for the government? About half.” No, it’s more like 25% now, thanks to COVID Laziness Syndrome. PS: I’m not the only one who’s noticed this. Please check out Topffer’s similar observation earlier this week.
Last May I bought two bicycle tires on the Decathlon web store (it is a department store specialized in sports in the EU) and paid 7 euros to have them...

The grounds are superb, and that was a most satisfying consolation. The squirrels were so cute!

Maybe it will be open if you get the chance to go back.

Here in Ohio you wont catch it at a bar until after 10 pm. At least that is the only thing I can think of for why they can be open until then.

We've found the same in Australia. You can't even get a government agency to answer its phone. You get a recorded message saying 'sorry' then they disconnect and you're left holding the phone.

If we had decided to take our trip to the Keys this month, I'm sure we would have been disappointed by how many things were closed. They could reopen with safety protocols.

Nicely presented. I agree with you. Covid has given good excuse for some people mostly government employees to shirk off their responsibilities.
