I want to date you...send me some money ;-)

Today my husband showed me a text message he had received. It was one of those dating scams. The message was written in Danish, but the person definitely wasn't a native speaker. She used the word "velegnede" It means suitable, but we can only use it about things for instance in a sentence like: "I am looking for a suitable place" or "that book is suitable for children" I think that the woman (or the man pretending to be a woman?) who wrote the message meant to say that they are right for eachother/that they would make a good couple, but in Danish you simply can't use the word "velegnede" that way. I laughed when I read it. The sentence was very funny. It sounded like one of the English dating scams, but the person had made an attempt to translate the words to Danish...it just didn't turn out that well I also receive messages from women who want to marry me. It is nice to be so popular Unfortunately for them I am a married, heterosexual woman... Another person wanted to send me a suitcase full of gold, I only had to send him a small amount of money in exchange for the suitcase. What a generous offer. It is just a pity that the suitcase never arrived. I am joking of course. I never reply, I just delete the messages...

I also received some of those scam emails. I have to think that some fall in those traps or they would stop losing time.

I used to get emails from a Nigerian prince who wanted to marry me, but now I mostly get emails from women who can't wait to meet me Yes, some people fall for those emails. It sad when people believe them and send them money. I know someone who believed a scammer, and he sent the scammer money for a plane ticket.

Yes, that is true. I don't usually get text scams like the one my husband received, but I get plenty of scam messages via email. I delete them, but they keep coming.

Yes It is obvious that she isn't is a native Dane. We would never use that word in that way. It isn't a small mistake, it sounds very wrong, but I guess that the translation tool she used didn't notice that mistake

I also used to get lots of lottery scams. Now I get romance scams instead. They always find new ways to scam people. I delete those emails as soon as I see them.

Believe it or not, my dear husband here in the Netherlands also receive these messages on Facebook. It seems that there are some periods where he is more approached than others, but luckily he both has me but is more clever than that to take such a bait.

My husband is the same way. We are married and he isn't interested, but I am pretty sure that he wouldn't contact any of the those people if he was looking for a partner. Many of the scam messages are written the same way, they are not very creative

Yes, it is sad. There are so many types of scams. In my country many scammers try to get access to our digital IDs. Once they have access they can do a lot of things like transfering money from the victim's online bank account.
