What does one do with sardines?

When Horse Jr. and his mom moved to the East Coast, they left me with several tins of sardines. Horse Jr's mother is from Croatia. Do they eat sardines in Eastern Europe? I do not know what to do with sardines. I opened a can and tried to share them with Kitty. She did not care for them. I smothered what remained in Marie's blue cheese dressing and ate them, as I did not want to waste them. They were like anchovies on steroids. I did not get a tummy ache. My morning poop was normal the next day. What would you do with cans of sardines?

Have you ever tried it? If my kitty says no, I generally say no.

I mostly eat sardines on toast but they're also pretty good with a salad of lettuce, tomato, cucumber &c. I don't think that a blue cheese dressing with them would be very nice. I sometimes like to add a little chili sauce or sriracha to jip them up a bit. You can use the cans afterwards for holding small screws, &c when dismantling electrical appliances or for holding varnish or polish when refurbishing furniture or speakers. You can even make a small ukulele out of a sardine can.

@TheHorse That would be ideal, of course, but it's up to you.

I do not know if they eat sardines in Croatia, they surely do in Spain, France, Portugal, Italy and Greece. I make a sardines paté, I drain from oil, remove the skin, add bread crumbs, butter, lemon juice and I serve on toasted bread. Mixed to a blue cheese dressing must taste horrible.

@TheHorse Sardines are an inexpensive fish present in the Mediterranean sea. Fresh sardines grilled are very good. In the south of Italy they prepare spaghetti with sardines, this is something that I do not like a lot.

Sounds like coastal countries! Your recipe sounds good. Surprisingly, they were good in a blue cheese salad.

Well I would give them to Felix the Cat She loves them I opened a tin one night to see what they were like. Felix climbed up and started eating them from the tin. So she got them. I tried them I didn't like them at all.

But did you put blue cheese dressing on them? In general, if my cat won't eat something, I won't eat it either. But I was hungry.

@May2k8 I assume it's the processing that makes them taste "similar."

Is that mackerel soaked in brine, or whatever it is that makes sardines so salty?
